Nevermind the environmental impact that had, but the loss of water to those millions of people puts a lot of strain on Russia. I'm curious if we'd be seeing a war today had Ukraine not done that. We'll never know.

It sounds like an attempt to compare the event of Russia attacking Ukraine to the moderators of this website enforcing rules, but again, I'm not really sure if I'm reading it right because it's poorly written.

Definitely concerning. You back an animal into a corner and things can get ugly. Even if he doesn't use the nuclear option, scorched earth is still a distinct possibility. So sad. I think a hell of a lot more innocent civilians are going to lose their lives in this conflict once Putin start ratcheting up the suck. He has nothing to lose at this point and his pride is on the line.

If reports are true about how Russia is shocked at how long this has gone on for, plus the pressure from the money lost, athletes removed, oligarchies losing a ton of money.

I think the world is a bit shocked at how strong Ukraine has held up. But it's also only been a week.

First point I think your way off base *insert Trudeau joke here*. 2nd point he's going to say whatever he can to rally support from those that will offer it.
Russia has been able to restore a major water way to Crimea that was blocked by Ukraine. Crimea being an important to Putin's plan for it's natural gas reserve and trade route.

All the while the invasion has not yet brought in Nato to Ukraine. Brute force (a quicker approach) means more civilian casualties (not that it has been clean thus far) increasing the likelihood of Nato intervention - which Putin does not want.

Again this isn't his first rodeo. "plus the pressure from the money lost, athletes removed, oligarchies losing a ton of money" this all would of been planned for. 8 years spent building up a reserve, though some of it has been frozen.
When this is over the ruble will regain itself minimizing some lose. It will take years to see just how hard they were hit.

I guess it really depends on what Putin considers success. If success was "this all would have been done by a week" then he's not successful. But if he had planned for a "long term" invasion then he's fine.

Guess it depends on his plan.
