Which Dmen would you trade for Jack Hughes?

I've been talking about some trades that would subtract from my current D corps and I'm thinking about potentially dangling Hughes to try and add a replacement, but I'm not quite sure who some good comps would be.

well it's a keeper so it better be a young, prominent defender. The likes of DeAngelo, Hamilton, Seider, Theodore come to mind.

Unless there's a limit on keepers - I'm not seeing real value in trying to upgrade your D-corps at the expense of losing J.Hughes.

I mean, if you can add Makar for J.Hughes+ then sure... but you've got solid coverage and upside with your current 5 in a start 4D league.

You're really well positioned to start competing as early as next year. Stay the course would be my suggestion.

We use a salary cap for keepers, so there is a limit (technically, you can go over the cap, but you pay a penalty depending on how far over you go). As things stand right now, I'm anticipating being able to keep Chychrun, Bouchard, and Drysdale. I've had some trade discussions about moving Chychrun, so I was wondering about possibly moving Hughes (primarily because he's my second largest cap hit) to try and add another D with a similar AAV. But I suspect the best I'd be able to get for him is Alex Pietrangelo, which doesn't enthuse me. I'm quite confident that if I offered him straight up for any of the guys LuigiC173 mentioned, the trade would be swiftly rejected (maybe I could get Dougie Hamilton, but I don't want Dougie Hamilton).

So you're looking at trading away Dmen from your team, then thinking about trading JHughes to acquire Dmen because you want to improve there? What are you getting back for the Dmen you're looking at dealing away.

I'm not necessarily trying to improve my D-corps. I like what I've got, but I've been negotiating a trade involving swapping Chychrun for Batherson and Swayman, so I was thinking about whether I could then trade Hughes for another D to take Chychrun's place. But I'm not thinking I'd get enough back for Hughes to make it worthwhile.

chych in another market would be a gold mine, unless it was like NYR or COL where they already have bonafied stud dmen. i would hold on any trades involving Chych

I'm skeptical that anyone will meet Arizona's reported asking price for Chychrun, but we'll see.

Anyway, I've currently got an offer on the table of either Seth Jones or Zach Werenski for Hughes. I don't think either of them, one for one, is enough to give up Hughes.
