Default Trade - what you think

I am in a straight points league and am currently leading the regular season, with a good chance to win playoffs.
We play head to head with two games per week and have 4 weeks of regular season left.
I currently have Theodore and Pietrangelo as two of my d-men and was thinking of getting other team coverage and getting younger in the process.

    Give: Pietrangelo

    Get: Chabot

Whether I make this deal or not, I will be protecting either Pietrangelo or Chabot for next year.

    Would you make this trade.

My other d-men are: Fox, Dahlin, Theodore, Slavin and Petry

Chabot has had superb deployment, with tons of minutes but none of them tough minutes. His issue has been he's been poor on the PP. Enter Erik Brannstrom. Ironically, Brannstrom could end up being to Chabot what Theodore is to Pietrangelo. This is actually quite close - close enough that maybe you do go with Chabot to diversify, plus also because of the two games in hand that Ottawa has. Also, if you're going to keep the player, Chabot's youth is better in that area, so probably I'm leaning Chabot here.

I'd also do this but it's certainly not because Chabot is a significant improvement on AP in a points onlys. However, two things do favor Chabot, those games in hand this year although Chabot remains on IR at the moment so we'll see if that is actually an advantage. The most significant factor is the difference in age. I suspect Theodore will continue to slowly move AP out of the way, and while Brannstrom is a threat to Chabot, there should be plenty of points to go around on the Sens blueline as the Sens continue to improve. Not a slam dunk by any means, but I think this is a sideways move at it's worst and a "good bet" possible improvement for the future.

i like Chabot here....i agree with RD about Branstrom's influence here. However even if chabot looses PP he still will be about the same as PA. SO i thin there is no risk and potential reward here..you also gain years

Thanks was thinking the same, as I see it even at worst, but likely better longer term with 7 years of age difference.

Chabot for me here too. Not sure when your playoff schedule is but if it is like most, Ottawa has 3+ more games over Vegas. The players are close enough that this gives Chabot the edge in my book.

Other GM in the league now doesn't want to let Chabot go without extras.
He has offered choice of Dougie Hamilton or Drew Doughty.
Would you trade Pietrangelo straight for either one.
I would still protect Hamilton or Doughty if I picked them up for Pietrangelo.

    What do you think?

This is pretty weird. Hell ya, I'd move AP for Hamilton. Hamilton is a better own than Chabot in a pts only IMO. Very weird. I'd jump on this fast if I were you!
