Team Canada has apparently moved up from #40 ranked to #33.

so i just saw this post...they still 40 on fifa ranking page but i would nto be surprised..higher they rank the better for seating....

Don't hold your breath. Canada qualifying will be the prize. They will be absolutely destroyed at the world cup. The games Ive watched in quali are below sub par levels. Canada is nit a good team by any stretch of the imagination. So enjoy the quali but temper expectations. They'd be lucky ti score 1 goal at the tourney

i think you basing your opinion on history and how horrible Canada Soccer has been over years and not on current situation.

They are good team with few stars in world class teams and leagues....will they win WC? ofcurse no...but i dont think they be a pushover at all...this statement sounds like its said by someone without much soccer knowledge and if im wrong then i just disagree with it.

If Canada ends up in the group of death, I agree that it will have a very hard time keeping up.
But several countries with weaker squads end up playing in the World Cup because of FIFA's qualifying configuration...
I mean, Canada can conceivably take a game against an opponent like Tunisia or Ecuador, countries that are still very much in the running to qualify.
What if the US or Mexico end up in our group? We've shown we can beat that type of team.

I think you may underselling Ecuador. Basically any team that advances out of South America is generally pretty decent, and they are very likely to no need an intercontinental playoff to get there.

Ya the FIFA ranking on the site is from Dec23 or something, but I guess the prediction of FIFA points or what-not have them moving up to 33rd.

Team Canada has apparently moved up from #40 ranked to #33.

I believe before this all started they were like 77 or close to it. A huge improvement and Herdman is a big reason for this. How will Canada do? Well it sometimes comes down to the luck of the draw. If they get Qatar in their group then advancing to the next round is a reality. If they get into a group like Portugal, Germany and whomever, I think Canadians will be happy with some goals being scored. But don't be surprised if they surprise you. This is the best collection of soccer players (men) we have ever had, plus they know how to win now. Good luck Canada!!!
