Starting a keeper league
My yahoo league is in its 4th year. Teams have desided to make it a keeper league. We were thinging of keeping 10 players. The posibility of contracts. I was wondering how other people run there keeper leagues. Other hockeys freaks input would be great.

I know. But how long can you keep players or what about trading keepers. You just protect a limtited roster no contracts. Just looking for peoples input.

TheFeker welcome to the forums.
Everyone runs their keeper leagues differently. I would recommend starting your keeper league next season with a fresh draft. That way everyone is on a fair playing field in terms of drafting youth and players that can win the pool now.
I\'m not a fan of keeping less than 3/4 of your roster and prefer to keep all players at the end of the season if possible. Also having a separate farm team allows you to build your prospects on the side and still compete for the title every year.

welcome to the forums.
I have played in a few keeper leagues, and as crazynuck has said its best to have a fresh draft going into next season. drafting a keeper league is very different than drafting year by yr.
If you want to do contracts it gets tricky. im in a league that you can give 7 contracts out to protect players.
you get: one 7 yr contract, 2 5yr contracts, 2 3yr contracts, 2 one yr contracts. thats just one option that i have seen.
as for trading keepers or slots - you should beable to trade anything you want. if you do 10 keepers if someone wants to trade a keeper slot for players that could be an option where he will only have 9 keepers and another team can have 11. (again it gets confusing and hard to keep track of).
anything else you need just ask. you got alot of expierianced managers here.
