Honestly Kane is a shitty human and should be out of the league. But there’s no reason for Edmonton to not do this (other than morality enabling one’s which the league showed long ago they don’t care about).

Really? A shitty human? Because he’s made some bad decisions as a young man who was handed bucket loads of money at a young age and had no idea how to handle it?

Or because he used a fake vaccine passport for something that history is going to show to be ineffective (the mandates not the vax itself)? He did his time (21 games) and got vaccinated.

I admit that issues seem to follow Kane around. He obviously makes some bad decisions. But I really don’t understand why people demonize him so much. In reality, most of the recent issues (vax pass not withstanding) have turned out to be bogus.

Read all of that. I think it’s pretty obvious and clear why Kane is such a shitty human. Connor McDavid, for example, hasn’t had multiple women file assault lawsuits against him. Assault, in my opinion, is not a “mistake”. I’m not sure if it’s laughable or embarrassing that someone would refer to it as such, but it’s probably both.

During an interview in his home country, Oduya was asked point-blank who his least favourite teammate was throughout the years. His honest answer: Evander Kane. Oduya stated it wasn't necessarily that he had run ins with Kane, but that he seemed to drain the energy from the locker room.

"He's got a bad attitude, I'd say," explained Oduya. "I don't have a problem with people who have a big ego, but there's a difference between an ego where you want to do something, to win, to be the center of attention and all those things – but you're still a good teammate. That's important."

Thank you for posting this. My whole point in asking why people think Kane is a “shitty human” was for someone to actually lay it out, rather than just repeat their statement. I appreciate the well thought out response and timeline layout.

It still seems to me that most of his major transgressions are 5+ years old. Due to these transgressions, the more recent ones do get magnified. But I can at least understand why some people feel the way they do now.

I don't think k they just get magnified. His constant "late for practice" shtick with every team generally shows his work ethic and attitude.

It's no different than a regular job where that one guy is late and making excuses constantly and apologizing and known to show attitude and be generally hard to like. His co workers generally begin to dislike him. It sucks the fun and energy out of work and you hope that person transfers or gets enough progressive disciplinary action to get rid of.

It's easy for me to visualize him being that union worker who arrives exactly on time after being told to stop arriving late, but arrives on time not dressed , clocks in and then takes his sweet time finding his gear and safety shoes and then stops for coffee and to chat with chicks who work in the building before hitting the project.

I believe he’s saying this signing has worked like a champ. Thus far there haven’t been issues and he’s been a great add to the top six. Really great. There was a lot of grousing here about the Oilers courting trouble and Kane wasn’t worth it. That all seems a little silly now. Thus Haha.
