NHL08 or NHL2k8

Hey all...

How many of you are planning on getting one of these games in early september?

Which game are you planning on getting and/or looking forward to the most?

i bought the ps3 system in june. at that time 2k had the only hockey that i knew to be available for said system. i really enjoyed the game. i hadn\'t played ps2 ea hockey since early \'06 and didn\'t like the changes they had made at all. i\'m not a big fan of 1 button doing various things \"depending on the situation\". the damned cpu was making the decisions i wanted to make! so i was surprised at the level of quality of 2k7 as my friends and i had pretty much played ea only (golf, hockey, football, soccer, tennis) and just assumed they were the best.
i decided, in the lack of a ps3 ea hockey title i\'d try out the ps2 ea \'07. what a dismal game by comparison to 2k7 on ps3! still with the cpu controlling far too much decision-making, far too few button combos for different results. the major problem i have with 2k7 was the freakin game is so quiet. players are getting hammered into the boards with nary a thump or roar from the crowd; it really stinks. but hey! you can hear every swish of blade on ice and clack-clack of puck on stick... :S
anyhoo, i\'d say i\'m looking forward to the 2k8. after a year under their belts with the ps3, hopefully they\'ve learned some new tricks.

I\'ll be getting NHL 2008 on the 360. I have been following the preview videos and blogs, and it sounds fantastic. Some people over at IGN are already hyping as the best sports game of 2008.

well when you do get it, you should do a write up in your unleashed area about the pros and cons of the game.

Got a surprise today when my family purchased an XBox 360 for my as a belated birthday gift. I believe Tiger Woods 08 is out now, and then when NHL08 comes out I\'ll be buying that one as well. I just love all the player/team editing that I can do with it and it just \'feels\' so much more realistic. I\'m certainly sold on the EA series.

I\'ve been having this dilemma for a bit now that both games are coming out Sept.11.

I have played both 07 and 2k7 for ps2. Here are the pros looking at 08 and 2k8 for the ps3s

NHL 08
- have the skill stick movement feature
- have improved physics, hitting, and skating from 07
- create custom plays
- more developed AHL team

2k8
- have implemented a similar skill stick feature however i read that the controls are very complex and confusing
- much much more in-depth Franchise mode compared to NHL 08

I personally would buy NHL 08, the graphics and game play overall is much better than 2k8.

I am very excited about NHL08. After having read some of the reviews and seeing some of the features it looks fantastic.

Some things that look great:

-- The ability to design and run your own plays. Create them using a white board sort of format and then they can be started \'in game\' by bringing your \'key player\' across the blueline at a certain spot. Your own players will immediately kick into their program and you can use the play like you designed it.

-- To counter that the AI has been designed to intelligently learn and defend against your plays. So if you use a set play over and over the computer will learn to design counter plays to go against it. So no being able to use the same cheesy deke or shoot from the blueline at the same spot play over and over.

-- The AHL! I have been wanting this FOREVER and finally it happens.

There\'s more but those are a few of the things that look fantastic.

unfortunately, i\'ll be forced by curiosity and the desire to have the best game to buy both the ea and 2k titles. the franchise mode that i played around with on ea \'06 was okay, but really i\'m more into game play than role play, and as i stated before, ea seemed to be giving the cpu more power over what happens \"when\". we\'ll see...

I got the 3 red lights of doom error on my Xbox, so now I\'ll have to wait like 2-3 months for it to get repaired. I\'ll need to hang out at a friend\'s house now to play NHL08...
