Seguin: Buy-low or No-No?

I’ve got slightly too many LW’s and could use some RW’s with FOW potential.

I offered Burakovsky, Petersen and N. Robertson to someone near the bottom of the standings that doesn’t really have a keeper goalie and could use some prospect help.

Good move…or is Seguin done? Is my offer even good?

I own Seguin and have been thinking about moving him, just seems like Dallas isn't gonna be a high scoring team again this season and there are a lot of forwards that can produce on that team.

That's a pretty reasonable offer in a keeper league if the other team is looking for minor/ young players to add to their keeper list. And i don't think you're giving up too much if you think Seguin will turn it around

I think it is a good speculative target, but I would not hold my breath for a return to glory. Seguin had a brutal injury and it takes time to recover, if ever.

His underlying numbers + icetime have decreased steadily over the last three seasons. I would look for an increase in his shots per game for a real turn around because he was a dynamic shooter when he was at his peak. I like the fact that you would get ahead of the curve if Seguin ever recovers.

Regarding your offer, I think it's fair and it should interest a GM who wants to move on. Looking at your roster, you have the depth to assemble it but it's a dice roll imo.

I think it's a decent offer, and it could make sense for both sides. A bit of a risk, but at a reasonable price.

If that's the price then I'd be all over it, Seguin is a bit of a dice roll but the reward could be high.

That’s a pretty hefty price with the second round pick includes, but I have a soft spot for Seguin and would probably have sent something similar lol. If he can get back to his big shot totals and 30+ goals, you’ll be happy. I don’t think that’s out of the realm of possibility at all. Be patient with him, the talent and ability is still there. I like the move overall.

I didn't get you were aiming for a five-peat!
It is a bit pricey with that second-rounder, especially if Burakovsky breaks out... but this is the type of move you have to make to keep the crown.
Go big or go home, I like that.

Basically everyone is calling it a risk and I get that. It does give me pause on my own offer however because Burakovsky is out-pointing Seguin by himself. Giving Petersen whom he should probably keep (his goalies now are Jarry, Varlamov, Anderson and Vejmelka) and then a good prospect plus a 2nd is just me making a statement with my offer that I want it done. Still no word from my trade partner other than he will get back to me tonight! I expect he will and then I will just hope Seguin isn’t finished.

I think it's a fine risk to go for another title. May not work out, but it gives you better balance on the wings, and some FOW help.
