I don't mind more playoff teams only because it will promote deadline deals. In a perfect world, the playoffs would be expanded and the regular season games reduced to me. It's far too long of a season that have the playoffs practically figured out far to quickly. And then you get tired arms in the middle of the playoffs way to much recently.

Us as fans will always eat up playoff games, we're so predictable.

Yes agree on the perfect world scenario. That would be great.

Jon Heyman is saying things have turned south since last night. MLBPA submitted something around 11am, MLB is submitting their final and best offer right now. Doesn't sound good.

The final offer presented by MLB was rejected unanimously by the MLBPA

I've been avoiding this thread, but I am unsurprised by this result. God I hate Manfred and the owners.

Owners are terrible in Baseball, but I have to give it to them, they somehow make billions on a sport that has no one in the stands. They have to be doing something right, but thats not paying their players properly.

So does anyone know how they plan to deal with the cancelled games?

Does that mean the Blue Jays will have 3 less games against the Orioles now that that series has been cancelled? Likely not the series you want cancelled in a tight AL Eeast

They've said the first 2 series have been cancelled. The way I read that is they are just cancelling games right now. I'd say this is likely the way it goes until a large number of games are cancelled and a whole new schedule needs to be written.

Ya, all I've seen is cancelled games. And the MLB have said they will not reschedule cancelled games too. Opening Game for the Jays is now listed for April 8th vs Rangers. Seems like it's just cancelling games right now with no plan on a new schedule.

I'm starting to think this could be a long. They don't seem close at all and are arguing some pretty major issues.

Sad to see it happen with the Jays roster looking the way it does.

Yup, MLB isn't serious about negotiating when they had 3months between the "lockout" and when they started negotiating. Then when they did, they waited 5 days, 2 days before the cut off, before they were serious.

MLB is a terrible league with their players. Wonder if that had anything to do with Jeter stepping down as a management role on a team who would be against players. It's good the league has players now who are serious about negotiating, but I can't see how they come out of this winning after last yrs low income for players.

If they talked during the season about what could happen so save money for 2 seasons worth, then they have a serious fight here, but if they didn't save money, I wonder how long the players can last.

It's crazy that the MLB is responsible for a lot of the games cancelled in 2020 (they played 60, I'm sure they could have played 100 if the MLB wanted too), and now they are likely going to be the reason why they are cancelling (my guess) 40-50 games.

I'm glad this time around the world understands the players are the ones being shafted and the PR spin the MLB is trying to spin isn't accepted. They are doing the same thing they did in 1994/95 lockout pointing fingers at millionaires saying they're being greedy even though the owners are.

It's also very telling that the MLB was just negotiating for optics when after Tuesday, the negotiations just ended and haven't seriously continued since. If the MLB cared, they'd be pushing for a resolution still. Any Players Union never wins negotiations, but MLBPA is easily the worst out of the major NA sports.

Olson to Braves. Likely means Freeman isn't returning to Atlanta.

Oakland receives OF Pache, C Langeliers, SP Cusick and SP Estes. Atlanta receives Georgia Native Olson.

Pache was Atlanta's #1 prospect, Langeliers was their #2 prospect. Cusick their #6, and Estes #14.

Pache #38 overall, Langeliers #69 overall prospect.
