I am an admittedly frustrated Gaborik owner, and I\'m wondering if it\'s time to cut ties. I have a six-player blockbuster deal that I\'m considering sending to a fellow manager.

I hear you, Elascom, which is exactly why I\'m looking to move Gaborik. My concern, though, is that I\'m trading away two elite talents (Staal and Gaborik) and I\'m not sure if I\'m getting any back. I want to make sure my frustration-induced bias against Gaborik isn\'t pushing me into a mistake.

I view Vanek as an elite talent but this deal in large part depends on what your team looks like beyond the players listed.
As is you would be giving up a 40-50 goal scorer in Gabby and a 35-45 goal scorer in Stall with Mueller also looking at 30 goals and with his best years still ahead.
Meanwhile you are getting Vanek who may well pop in 50 but at least should hit 40. Hemsky and Backstrom are both going to get you a heaping of assists and Backstrom also has his best years ahead. In that way Vanek also does as well.
I guess the question is do you need the goals you are giving up?

Hippy Oiler Fan, the rest of my team really needs everything right now! Over the last few seasons, though, I\'ve been the top goal-scoring team and about 4th or 5th in the league in assists. Other key keepers of mine include goal-scorers like Malkin, Nash and Phaneuf (goal-scorer for a dman)... oh yeah, Radulov too.
I\'m less concerned with specific stats than I am with acquiring the better assets. I\'m not exactly in a position yet to \"fine-tune.\"

I traded Gaborik early in the season this year for Vanek. I also had Gaborik all year last season. The peace of mind is worth it, plus Vanek is lighting it up and hardly ever misses a game. I would take the deal. Even if Gaborik were healthy all season he still may not outscore Vanek.
