Agreed but we've seen crazier things happen.. Hot runs and short seasons.

Odds are low, though and Seider doing what he's doing, at his age and on this team.... Special player.

I think this is Zegras' to lose considering how wet everyone got between the legs after his highlight goal earlier this year.

Lundell quietly making a case - he looks fantastic out there, already good enough to be a 2nd line NHL C in my opinion.

Playoff races will impact things. Zegras has an inside track but a rookie D playing big minutes and contributing on the score sheet, on a playoff team (if it happens) goes a long way in voting…

Detroit is nowhere near a playoff spot as the standings are messed up. The team is seven points out, and has played three more games than Boston (holding down the second wild card spot). They are 13 points behind Washington for the other wild card spot. They're 15 points behind the Leafs for the third spot in the Atlantic division.

The Wings are eight points ahead of the Islanders, but have played eight more games (the Islanders could go 3-3-2 and pass the Wings). They are three points up on the Blue Jackets, and have played three extra games.

So they need to hope all the teams with extra games lose the majority of those games, and then go on a much-better second-half run than at least three other teams.

    League champ in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020 and 2022.

Top 8 forwards, 5 dmen and 2 goalies count.

We keep 15 players (any position) plus two rookies.

Forwards: Panarin, Ovechkin, Kopitar, Stamkos, Tuch, Rust, Marchessault, Pavelski, Miller, Bertuzzi, Stone, Kakko, Brown, Stankoven, Kovalenko
Defence: Hedman, Fox, Matheson, Thrun, Jiricek
Goalies: Kochetkov, Talbot, Vasilevskiy, Campbell, Schmid

Well then give it to Zegras and there's no debate lol... He's on a playoff team as it stands.

    Close the thread. lol

Swayman - Rask hasn't looked good, he's the top rookie goalie it seems like right now.

Jeannot - Rookie leader in goals. Might heat up more. I don't think he'll push hard for the top 3, but could steal votes off someone else.

Boldy - 9pts, 9gp. If he finishes PPG, wow how does he not get votes.
Interesting topic has arisen yet again for an overaged rookie.

He definitely could sneak in with his recent play but I still think it's Seider-Raymond-Zegras.

And I still think it's Seider's to lose.

Yup, I would think the top 8 right now in no order are:

Bunting certainly deserves consideration at this point. Yes, he plays on one of the best lines in hockey, but watch a game and you will see he deserves to be there. He is a damn good player.

From this list, the top four should be Lundell, Seider, Zegras and Raymond. The top three is really hard to figure out. I just cant figure which of Raymond or Lundell misses out.

And Swayman too (0.929s%, 1.95GAA, 13W). I forgot about him. He is def ahead of guys like Boldy, but I'm only including Boldy because if he finishes with 50gp, with 50pts that's got to be worth some votes.

If Swayman can get some starts to end the yr and has a low 2GAA with 25wins, again that's got to steal votes.

Granted what earns one a finalist spot isn't the same each season, but it's difficult to see how Swayman doesn't get a nod given what he's doing after Neds got one last year.
