I can't believe the NHL got this right.

And Torts is a good replacement really. The team is humming, he doesn't need to do much.

    Agreed on the first point.

Regarding Torts, he may not need to, but can he actually keep himself from doing so? That selection would make me a little nervous as a FL fan.

I think the NHL did the right thing.

I hate the thought of Torts destroying a fantastic fantasy hockey team.

Actually, that's a NO. Torts cannot restrain himself. Florida would be better off promoting an assistant to interim head coach than hiring him.

I love Tortorella's personality, but he's a little bit of a throwback type coach. If he takes over a 7-0-0 team, there is only one direction this can go. Still, the NHL is more fun when you can watch Tortorella media interactions!

Good to have him back but is he the right guy for this job? The players are like oh shit.

Quenneville needs to meet with Bettman before re-entering the league and Bettman will "ok" or deny him from being hired. Low-key smart move by the league to say this

Anyone else feeling like the league isn’t really getting this right? Yes, it’s good that these people are no longer in the positions they were. But no one’s had the guts to actually fire anyone. Sure, they were forced out and I’m not saying they shouldn’t have been. But come on, step up and publicly fire these folks and call out how terrible their actions were.

It's likely over the fact if you fire a coach, you pay their contract. If you let them resign, you don't have to pay them.

Firing people for things they did or didn’t do achieves very little. If the league wants to get this right they change all the processes that led to these failures, hold itself and the nhlpa accountable and institute serious mechanisms to take these matters seriously. That would be doing it right, in addition to offering every personal support available to KB and his family.

Decades late resignations and firings only satisfy mobs, media and some sort of sense of retribution justice. I’d like to see real institutional change instead of tardy dismissals, resignations and empty apologies.

Florida. Don’t hire torts or there goes your season. Keep it to an assistant for this year.
