Goalie Keeper Choices

Hey Guys,

Got some tough choices here, have to pick one goalie out of the ones I have from last season.

Here are my options, would appreciate some help.

F. Andersen
Sorokin
Jarry
Khudobin

I like Freddie Andersen. I think he'll start 60% of games for a CAR team that will win 60% of games. So... 82gp x .6 x .6 = 29.5wins.
I think the Isles may be a better team and win 65% of their games... but I think Sorokin starts 50%. So... 82gp x .65 x .5 = 27wins
Khudobin may start 60% of Dallas games... and they may win 55% of their games. So... 82gp x .60 x .55 = 27wins
Jarry may start 65% of PIT games... and they may win 50% of their games. So... 82gp x .65 x .5 = 27wins.

You can also do this math however you see the starter taking a share and how many games the team will win.
But my math says Andersen is the pick here.

Sorokin may be the best goalie of the bunch... but he does have a veteran in Varlamov who should be considered #1 goalie.
Khudobin may have the best defensive system in front of him... love DAL D and defensive forwards this year.


Good battle - goes to show how close a lot of goalies are to each other this year!

Is this a league in Yahoo? I've noticed that Yahoo will include stats with an asterisk beside it but that may not actually be the goalie stats in the league.

So if I'm correct then I read your stats as W, GAA, SV% and SHO in which case I would take Sorokin. He may have less starts than Andersen but I think he will have the better averages and likely shutouts.

Jarry to me is not in the same tier as Andersen and Sorokin and the Dallas goalie situation I just think not even Dallas has any idea which way it will play out.

That's correct. The asterisk stats are the ones not being counted.

Yeah I would go with Freddy as well. Sorokin isn’t ready to take over the reins quite yet. Jarry might be the surprise out of the bunch. Good luck.

I have them in the order you listed, with a space between Sorokin and Jarry.

I'd take Sorokin. I see him as a safe 35+ start goalie, 40 is reasonable, more if Varlamov misses a couple weeks. Peripherals should be very good.

I think neither Carolina goalie gets over 40 starts -too much injury risk there. They really should've kept Ned.
Jarry is prone to bad starts, and is probably the worst goalie listed. He should get volume as long as he doesn't crap the bed too much.
Khudobin is good, but there are too many goalies in Dallas to trust one for enough volume.
