    Default Branden Tanev - Keeper

    Hi all,

I'm in a MultiCat Roto league. The categories are G A PPP Shots PIMs Hits Blocks Takeaways. We play 4 C 4 LW 4 RW 6 D 2G weekly.

Last year Branden Tanev was on a tear early, he was 57th skater on FHG for my league when he got injured.

Dobber has him 3rd on spreadsheet for Hits, Blocks, PIMs but down around 180 on FHG overall for some reason.

I suppose my Q is whether you would keep him and whether he could get more mins and involvement with Kraken. He seems to be one of the faces of the organisation. The managers in my league are very savvy and he will get drafted in early rounds, but hard to know when exactly. Whilst he gives you zero PIMs he is outstanding in Hits, Blocks and Takeaways and gets a few points an helped me a lot easily last year in those cats.

My alternates are Faulk - also a very good roto player but D men are easier to find and Herlt, who is a run of the mill C. All of these guys are fringe keepers and with any luck won't make my team next year as rookies develop.

Love to hear what you think

I would keep him, the projections so far have him and Reaves (and Brady of course) close for hits at the top then a drop off. The difference being that he will at least double Reaves' point output.

As for his minutes and involvement, Dobber has him on the third line with Gourde centering so that would be a big upgrade. Even if that's not the line makeup I have hard time seeing how he wouldn't have an increased role from what he was doing with the Penguins.

I would only consider Faulk here if you needed the blocks based on what the rest of your defence core looks like.

Yeah, Tanev is a solid player in deep PIM, Hit leagues.
Like real NHL, one or two Tanevs on a 12F roster... that secures you to be competitive in the grit cats.

He's a must-keep when compared to Justin Faulk.

In this setup, I'd take Tanev over Faulk.
10 Team, Points Only, Cash League

25 Man Roster (no position), top 20 point getters count at end of month
Keep 20/25 at seasons end, Cut 5 to FA for redrafting
    Goalie points W=2pt L=-1pt SHO=2pt

Stamkos, Tavares, Eichel, Mercer, JRobertson, RThomas, Kucherov, Nugent-Hopkins, Tuch, KConnor, Necas, Point, Konecny, SJarvis, Cozenz, Morrissey, Bouchard, Josi, Novak, Tolvanen, Peterka, Brink

    G- Vasilevskiy, Sorokin, Oettinger

Thanks guys, glad I'm not going crazy. I think I will keep Tanev and I have a feeling I might get Gudas or someone like Faulk in the draft.

My D keepers are Letang, Doughty, Chabot and Hamilton plus Romanov as a prospect - enough grit there and top up at draft.
