Hart or Markstrom for keeper league???

Hey guys, been looking at shopping goalies and had a guy hit with with Hart coming back to my squad. Although i didn't want a goalie in return necessarily, he is young and might be nice to have in the keeper?

The trade was me giving Markstrom and UPL (possibly) for Hart. I'd like to try and hang on to UPL if not replace him with something else. My worries is Hart and his last year he had. Does he bounce back or is Markstrom the way to go ?

I currently have Andersen, Francouz, Campbell, Holtby, Markstrom.

On the whole, in an unlimited keeper I'd rather have Hart than Markstrom, even with Hart's bad year last year. The question is the degree to which you feel you are competing this year. If you feel that you're at or near the top, I'd be tempted to keep Markstrom just to have that floor of performance. If you're in the middle or rebuilding, then I'd get Hart so he can eventually help carry your goalie squad.

How freely can you run goalies in and out of your starting lineup? With Andersen and Campbell and Francouz, you'll probably be running a lot of goalie starts out there on decent teams, so you may not need Markstrom.

You get to play 2 a night, can switch them out daily, and to be honest I don't think I'm near the top of the league to win. I might slide into playoffs but not a contender for id say 2 years maybe

In a keeper league I’d easily pick hart, one year would probably go markstrom.

Hart for me.
One-year blip in stats... his head/timing wasn't there... COVID year, full Metro opponents, shit defense.
All that should change going forward (well COVID still around, but schedule & D is changed).

I just don't have a lot of faith in CGY's team defense.
PHI has all the pieces there to be a good team... I think we'll see them get back on the rails.

Would you give markstrom and ukko pekka luukkonen for hart though? I know Buffalo is horrendous but could UPL be the starter soon and possibly flourish ?

I would do that, for Hart.
UPL has really only had one solid hockey season since his draft (2017) - which was his 53gp w/Sudbury in 18/19. He had a .920sv%.
Since then, he doesn't have anything above .908 in a solid league... with just the .912 in the ECHL.
Those numbers just aren't good enough... and they won't be any better at NHL level.

Buffalo doesn't seem like they will turn it around any time soon.
As a UPL owner... I think I've come near to end-of-road with UPL... there's just more solid goalies proving their draft value... and UPL ain't one.

I think it's referring to timeline.

He is a non-contender, and has Andersen, Francouz, Campbell, Holtby, Markstrom as goalies, and UPL as a goalie prospect.

He's got Markstorm, Holtby who is basically done, and then a bunch of current guys who may or may not have roles in a few years. So he gets younger in net, and that fits his timeline.

Regarding the deal, I'd be willing to do it, but I'd want to see if you can include Holtby and get something else back, or just get another player back, and dump Holtby afterward.

I don’t like giving up UPL in that deal. I also think he can be the starter and hopefully Buffalo is a better run team by then. I’m guessing he won’t do this straight up so see what else you can add to keep UPL. Maybe add in a pick? Good luck

ya he hasn’t budged much, all i’ve gotten is he’s willing to throw in daacord or zucker along with hart
