If you want less penalties, tell the players to stop doing stupid things that cause the refs to call them in the first place. LOL!

The NHL is run by neanderthal thugs who never had the talent to make the NHL and ensure that role doesn't go away through gatekeeping. They sacrifice their stars to keep their plugs relevant. It's the only sport that does this and it's easy and obvious to see why the popularity of hockey is declining relative to pretty much every other sport. It will continue to do so as long as the current gatekeepers of the game remain in power. People want to see the best of the best preform at their best. Hockey is the only sport where the best of the best are not allowed to do so.

What people (and honestly most players) obviously fail to understand is that by not calling obvious rules infractions, the refs are deciding the game just as much as by calling the actual rules. The difference is that in one instance (calling the rules) the sport is played how it's supposed to, and in the other instance ("letting them play") the game turns into a farcical display of mediocrity in fake interest of "parity". Until the largest segment of hockey fanbase and players understand that not making a call decides the game just as much as making the correct call, there wont be a systematic change that is absolutely necessary in the sport. I'm not optimistic it will happen anytime soon in the most nepotistic sports league in the world.
