DeAngelo signed in Carolina. Not sure how that affects your situation. If you have patience, I still think Smith is the better option over Ellis.
With Philadelphia bringing in Yandle to potentially run the top PP, where does that leave Ellis? Also Ty Smith looked to be a lock for the powerplay in Jersey until Hamilton and DeAngelo signed. Should I even bother with 1 of these 2 or keep somebody else on my roster (Kapanen, Marchessault, Gourde, Khudobin? )
Team and league details in signature.
Thanks in advance!

Oh my bad, hard to keep track with all the signings. You are correct DeAngelo in Carolina. But thank you, I really am high on Smith.

I prefer Smith to Ellis, based on potential. Neither is in an ideal situation, though.

I'd take a shot with Ellis. Smith won't be getting a sniff of PP1 for years now.
I'd prefer Ellis. He's a top pairing D and Yandle's defense is similar to Gustaffson's. I suspect the ironman streak ends this season.
Smith looks good, but he's behind Hamilton on the PP, and the depth chart, I think.

Ellis has some chance of being PP1 while Smith has none. For what its worth Daily Faceoff is showing Ellis on PP1 and Provorov and Yandle PP2. Just speculation at this point. But no doubt Ty Smith is stuck on PP2 behind Hamilton who has a lock on PP1.
Ellis remained fantasy worth when he was behind Josi. I see the same situation in Philly. I like Smith in the longer term, but for now I'm going with Ellis and his track record, seems to be the wiser choice IMO.

If the ironman streak comes to an end, it will be after Yandle sets the new record. Philly did a piss poor job this Summer, so they can ill afford the bad press of dogging Yandle when he has less than a season of games to go. That said, I wouldn't be surprised if Yandle excels as their PPQB because unlike Ghost, Yandle is a puck mover and passer versus a shooter. He may do so well in Philly in those 60-70 games before they can press box him that it simply screws Provorov and Ellis since you can't have Yandle play defensive defense (LOL)... WHY AM I A PHILLY fan? ugh?!?

There are a lot of good offensive Dmen in Philly now. There’s a chance that Ellis can take advantage, or there’s a chance that Provorov, Risto, or Yandle take control of the PP. Ty Smith will be limited now with Hamilton, but the talent is there. Smith has more trade value in my opinion due to age and upside, but Ellis could/should be better next season. I’d offer up each and see what return is better.
