Good for him. He's the kind of player that doesn't put up elite fantasy numbers, but his real-world value is quite high.
IMO, he is worth this contract in the short-term, but by the end of this contract he will be overpaid. That's just the way it is for many of these UFA contracts, unfortunately.

Yep, trust in Sakic. Not surprised that he got it done, at a reasonable price (for now, though will be overpaid near the end of the contract).
