Isn't the salary cap in the KHL 13mill? I know it's Russia tho.
sounds like he has a massive offer on the table
"LeBrun is now confirming that the offer from CSKA is indeed a big one. This could be more than just a leverage play by the 24 year-old offensive star if he doesn’t get what he wants.
at this point, Kirill is only interested in a two year deal that will take him to UFA status at 27. Kaprizov fully believes he’s a 10 million plus type player. The Wild are trying to lock him up for a full 8 years, a deal he’s already rejected."

I've read that bonuses don't count against the KHL cap, I'm unsure if that is true. Also, it's 3 years until Kaprizov becomes UFA if I'm not mistaken

Let's simplify this.
CSKA has made a big offer because they want him back
CSKA is putting the pressure on Kaprizov
Kaprizov did not manufacture the CSKA offer
As a result of said offer, Kaprizov is left with a strong bargaining chip to bring to the table with Minny that most other RFA's in his position don't have.
The reality of said offer creates the pressure placed on Minny
Kaprizov's agent would be a fool if he then did not use this to negotiate a stronger deal in his client's favour.
This is a situation of circumstance created by CSKA - of which KK benefits from
He'll get what he wants from Minn. He had stated his goal for the past 2+ seasons was to come to the NHL and play in the best league in the world.
He's played in it, and played well, but does not strike me as a one and done player.
he turned down the 8 year deal because he wants a bridge deal - likely to avoid locking in during a flat cap & limiting his earnings.
Something north of Barzal's 3yrs 7mil is what I figure he'll end up with 3x8 would not surprise me.

hes a UFA in 3 seasons so a bridge deal would only be 2 seasons for him.
it is definitely trending towards him getting the 3-year deal that he wants if he has as much leverage as it seems he does....
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
Even a 4 year deal to boost his AAV & lapse the huge buyouts of Suter/Parise wouldn't surprise me.
If I were him, this is what I would do.
There's a good chance he can win a cup in Minny. As good as going anywhere else as a UFA (If not better)
