Maybe they are setting up for acquiring RFA's and stuff in the future. This team is gonna likely have 10mill in space and maybe they just want to get players owned by teams who can't afford them in the future. Or even UFAs.
Just thinking based on my team I follow, but Morgan Rielly is from out west. Hey, here Rielly, take a$7mill/7yr deal and what team out there could offer him that with the low state tax Washington offers. Maybe that's their approach.

IF it's true then that's a nice D corps. Meh with the forwards and the goalies are young enough to grow with this team nicely. Blackwell/Gourde/Appleton line looks solid. (BAG line as in lunchbag/brown bagging it) 11picks right so far.....

Not the sexiest lineup they could have assembled, but one that has some talent and could grind out some wins. Some "character" guys, some physicality, some skill.
Interested to see what other arrangements they have already worked out but haven't announced, and what they do with all that cap space before next season.
