Carey Price waives for expansion draft exposure

Was listening to Buffalo hockey talk earlier. They said that 70% of Sabres fans polled said that they wouldn’t trade Jeff Skinner straight up for Carey Price. Give me Price all day over Skinner. Price when healthy, is still one of the best goalies in the NHL while Skinner ….. is he even relevant anymore? 2 bad contracts but 2 very different players.

With the way Price played in the playoffs his contract is simply not a bad one. It’s well worth it. It would appear it will become that way, but it isn’t yet. Skinner’s is already the worst contract in the NHL. There is no comparison. And Sabres fans are obviously so traumatized at this point anything they say or even comprehend as reality is severely compromised. It’s some sort of fanbase wide Stockholm Syndrome.

When Francis called out Carey Price's name, the whole room went silent.

I find that polling fans,e specially on talk radio, just shows you how stupid the majority of sports fans, and by extension, people are.

Some of the time, the poll is flawed and biases the results, but often it's just too much of overvaluing your own guys, or denigrating people who don't look/think/act/play the way you think they should.

I'm from Philadelphia, the national center for sports stupidity, and a place that makes even English soccer hooligans realize that places where there's a jail in the stadium is pretty crazy.

I can totally understand why NHL teams are pissed at MTL. The timing of the Price stuff and coupled with the NMC exception granted for Price would make me upset if I'm a GM.

Like lets be real here, if MTL wanted Price to have his knee and hip looked at sooner, they could have.

Blame the league don't blame Montreal. They wanted to cram a deadline to waive NMC to a week after playoffs ended. MTL and TBL should of been granted leniency.

Well I complained about TBL cap before playoffs even started. That was as a hockey fan, not a Habs fan. It pretty much ruined the playoffs, if it wasn't for the Habs run. For it to be as a Habs fan I would have had to see them being in the Finals vs TBL... which I did not.

Really don't see how any of the rest have anything to do with it.

I don't need to be a Habs fan to populate the opinion that both MTL and TBL should be granted some leniency.

Hey - as everyone here knows I’m a complete Habs homer. Ours is a pretty passionate and at times overwrought fan base. There has been some significant hand wringing over these subjects of late. Some of it has merit and some of it has been what could be classified as pearl clutching. We’re all a bit on edge over this whole Price is exposed thing. I know I am.

For me protecting Allen was the right move. So if Price is picked so be it. May even buy a Seattle Price jersey to remember this crazy time lol.

I think there's a wide range of difference in fans. Every fan base has it's ludicrous fans. For example this Carey Price group I'm in, you just have to shake your head at some of the comments. Oh it's so unfair for Kraken to be able to take players off teams. Etc. LOL.

While I can agree with this when relating this to a lot of what I'm see fans say right now (ie. this Carey Price group), it was in response to my comment, which I don't believe you can say that about.
So I really don't know what to make of it.

You’re ok with your favorite team breaking the rules or getting rules exemptions, but not other teams. I think it’s pretty clear how it applies to your comment. Link to the thread and quote tweet your post from the start of the playoffs saying the two cup finalists should get leniency.

Notably, the team that apparently always breaks the rules had no issues adhering to the same deadline as the rest of the league. Maybe they just didn’t have any injuries. Wild how Montreal had so many injuries suffered after the playoffs ended.
