I sneaked into the playoffs due to division alignments and upset in the first round but lost in second. I need upgrades and wonder if getting Johnny hockey is the correct move as he won’t be the only answer AND will add about $2m to my cap crunch.
I am close to cap - 12m free but waiting on a few UFA and rfa to sign new deals (Nedeljkovic is the main big one with other depth players)

I'd accept this fast. The price is right, in fact a handful of nickels for a dollar is a good way to put it. There are some questions surrounding Johnny, he's coming off a not so great year, he's pretty much one dimensional and it's not the cheapest contract out there. Don't care! Add him to your team for peanuts and then you can figure it out. I'll be surprised if Ned signs for huge money, 4 is more likely than 8 I think. Your CAP might accommodate Johnny without having to get too creative.

i would take it...only one here im worrying about loosing at all is Lavoie..but i think he is 2-3 years away from being impactful. White is a dropable player in most leagues and 17th overall this year is as much of crap shot as anything in the past...

Thanks all did the deal and was able to get a 4th rounder back in the 2022 draft. Figured can always go for a boom/bust kind of guy in that spot.
And as for a comment earlier I do hope Nedeljkovic signs a bridge deal similar to Blackwood

Personally, in salary cap, multi-cat leagues, I have no interest in owning someone like Gaudreau simply because his overall productivity doesn't equal his cap hit in fantasy hockey.
I agree with others that the price isn't absorbent but I'm just not a fan of Gaudreau in these formats. There's usually better ways/ places to spend that cap.

I would make this trade. Johnny is right in the middle of his prime and is not far removed from a 90+ point season.
He's the perfect "buy-low" candidate.

I agree with this. I have very little interest in Gaudreau in a multi-cat cap league. However, you're essentially getting him for free, so I would 100% take that offer, keep quiet for a month or two, let some "bounce back" hype build around him, and then see what types of offers I can get for him during training camp.
