Plenty of time to get this together but we would like to have a nice amount of time to get the draft done. 7-10 days. So we have lots of time before we start. With divisional playoffs everyone kind of knows what route each team faces to get out to the Conference finals too, which allows for a little bit of extra confidence in targeting teams/divisions if we start before the first round matchups are set.

That’s the risk you take. I believe we’ve done that before. And if a team doesn’t make it you get to pick up other players? I’m sure Pete can answer.

Ahh... great questions!! I should have copied the opening thread from two years ago.
As soon as a team is mathematically eliminated then those players can be replaced - in same order as original draft of the players selected from that team.
Example -
We are in the middle of round 8.
Jack Eichel was selected at pick 6.2
Rasmus Dahlin selected at pick 7.4
Sam Reinhart selected at pick 7.9
Buffalo gets mathematically eliminated.
The person that drafted Eichel gets to replace him with anyone still available, followed by the person who drafted Dahlin, then Reinhart, then resume draft.

Ok I'm in.
And I am open to suggestions on different ways to handle the potential of this happening. I do think the last two times we have started without knowing the final standings, I do not think we had to do much replacing. The players from the bottom teams seemed to get picked in the two days between the NHL regular season and the Playoff opening day.
However this year could be different... with Vancouver's extended schedule.
