Another impressive game.
1g, 8sog, 2pim, 6hits, played second most F minutes behind only Barkov.

I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Ceiling - 45-50 points and that is being generous
Reality - top 9 guy with grit and grinds the other teams top 2 lines and adds some offense
Some nights he looks really good but most nights you think he’s in the press box

I realize he’s on Florida but just basing what I saw him do in Calgary as a reference point. Sure he’s playing better on a better team with better line mates, all I’m saying is that’s great but let’s see him do it over a full season with consistency.

I think all we can say is Bennett has definitively done enough to not know what to expect from him next season. There is 6 seasons and 400 games of Sam Bennett NHL production to base an opinion on, with a new 10 game sample that is new information. He’s certainly had 10 game stretches of NHL play where he has preformed this well, even if the production wasn’t to the same level.
Will he still be getting this level of ice time next season? Will he have the same linemates? Will he have the same chemistry? It would be silly and naive to ignore this stretch of play in a new environment and weight those factors. But it would be equally silly and naive to ignore the 400 prior games of evidence we have of what Sam Bennett has proven to be. I can promise you that this is not the outcome Calgary wanted for their highest draft pick in franchise history.
Set new Panthers record for most points in first 10 games with 15.

Dude gets to live in beautiful Miami now and play with Huberdeau and Barkov. His life just got waaaay better in every way. Why wouldn’t he keep playing like a guy who cares and is engaged?
i dont think anyone believes Bennett is now a 120 point player so the pessimism is a bit odd. There's been many cases in the past where a high 1st rounder just doesnt work out and needs a change of scenery while still young-ish. He's 24 and has the pedigree to play with Huberdeau at evens and the top pp on a good team. What more do you want?
As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I think hes a good bet for 55 points + all the peripherals you could want. Theres not too many players that provide this type of multi-cat production
