Unlike Ghostbear Gusev is a UFA after this season. Hasn't been great this year by any means but could someone take a swing at him? He also has a modified NTC so I wonder if Jersey has tried to trade him and couldn't get him to waive?

doesnt really seem like he got his fair shot at deployment in nj. from everything i've read about him, it seems he def has the talent to be in the nhl but obviously not in nj.

I've seen that mused in the ramblings on this site often but it's simply not true. He looked AWFUL this year on a regular basis. Lazy play, constant missed opportunities, overholding the puck, forcing weak passes, and awful in his own end. It was so frustrating to see. He received tons of opportunity but that opportunity was quickly reduced because of how bad he performed. He has talent but clearly has not been working hard whatsoever. Hopefully for him he can put it together, but he seems to lack the intangibles and drive that need to be coupled with raw skill to be successful in the NHL.

Eric is probably correct here. Gusev clears, maybe the Devils can retain salary and get something for him from a team to send straight to their taxi squad.
