Tom Wilson slams Brandon Carlo's head into the boards...

As much as I think Tom Wilson crosses the line way too much and he actually enjoys hurting people and likely should not still be in the NHL, the NHL DOPS hands were tied on this one. Nothing he did was a suspendable offense so they could not suspend him.

1) Falling on a guy's head
2) Punching a guy in the head with your glove on - this happens multiple times every game
3) Punching a different guy in the head with your glove on - see #2
4) Punching a 3rd guy in the head with your glove on after he literally jumps on your back - see #2 & #3
5) Throwing a guy who jumped on your back to the ground and then lifting him up and throwing him back down - getting suspended for this would be the same as getting suspended for punching a guy too hard in a fight, Panarin started this engagement and Wilson finished it so you can't suspend a guy for defending himself

With that said the NHL DOPS is still terrible and Tom Wilson should probably not still be in the NHL but I can completely understand this decision making process.

I appreciate that these things all on their own are not suspension worthy. But each didn't happen in a vacuum and you left out that he punched said guys in the head while their heads (one helmetless) were against the ice.

Todd Bertuzzi also punched a guy in the head with a glove on (your number 2) and then fell on a guys head (your number 1). Was that not suspension worthy? The specifics and context of the event matter and breaking it down to it's component parts while ignoring some key factors makes most things look not suspension worthy

Looks like tonight could be a doooozy. Will they sit Wilson? If so it's possibly open season on guys like OV/Carlson. Like somebody mentioned before, obviously the NHL is ok with this or this would've been handled many incidents ago. If Wilson plays does B. Smith go right after him? Who knows anymore.

ovi and carlson are big boys who could take care of themselves .

Yes - you're totally right. Crosby was in complete control. It's amazing that he knew he was not going to hurt Konecny when he slammed him to the ice and punched him repeatedly. What a guy.
