Default Move Byfield to Acquire Brady Tkachuk? (Will REP)

Not for team in sig. I have been trying to snag Brady Tkachuk and the other GM is adamant that Byfield be part of the deal. It's a 12 team H2H full keeper league and the cats are: G, A, PTS, SOG, PPP, SHP, H+B, FO%. I am extremely high on Byfield and really don't want to move him. But, I am in 4th place with a legit shot at winning which Brady would only help with.

Would I be crazy to part ways with Byfield to acquire Tkachuk? I would likely have to add on my end as the other GM is huge on Brady and has a firm vice grip on him.

    I would do it.
Byfield is an amazing prospect, but that is it right now.
B Tkachuck is a beast and he seems to be just getting better, especially in the last 5 games.

If you are wanting to push higher in the standing and go for the win, do the trade with Byfield.

I just acquired Brady myself for PLD.

i would do it in this set up...even if Byfiled is a better player in 3-4 years, difference will not be big in set up like this...and if you win this year....thats all that matters.

    I would make the move.

I know its hard to move a top prospect like Byfield.
But their is little guarantee that Byfield is ever as good as Tkachuk right now.

And if it helps you win a league... thats money in the bank.

Thanks for the advice guys. How much would you be willing to add on top of Byfield for Brady? He's also trying hard to acquire Kahkonen from me. We only start one goalie per night and I already have Vasilevskiy and Talbot with Blackwood and Petersen on my farm team who I can call whenever needed. Is it unreasonable for him to want Byfield and Kahkonen for Tkachuk? Would a pick on top of Brady be enough? I'm really struggling with this one and could use all the help I can get. Cheers

I would definitely do it. Brady is very good in your setup and should keep getting better.

I would be willing to add Kahkonen since you have good goalie depth and I would ask for a pick (5th-6th round)or a pick upgrade on your side. Nothing major but try to move up 2-3 rounds (let's say your 6th rd for his 3rd) for the upgrade on your side. Since it's a full keeper, the pick upgrade isn't much anyway but every little bit helps.

Or if he accepts a pick from you that's even better. Again, since it's a full keeper, you can offer him a 3rd round pick on top of Byfield. That would be the best case scenario.

I'm with the rest in being on board trading Byfield for B. Tkachuk. It just depends on what the + needs to be.

Would help to know what else you have to determine what it makes sense to add. I would start by asking what he's thinking in addition. It might be that he thinks he needs something big added, which then likely makes all this thinking and talking moot.

We've already had extensive conversations about Tkachuk and I sent multiple offers and he said while they were fair (bordering on overpayment) he's worried he'd regret it later on since Brady is a beast, especially with our setup. I grabbed Kahkonen off the wire at the very beginning of the season and I don't need him to win now and see him more as an expendable asset at this point. I would be comfortable with something like Byfield/Kahkonen for Tkachuk/2nd or 3rd or something like that. He may not even go for this, he's quite bullish on Brady. He's also interested in Yamamoto and W. Nylander but needs a goalie and really likes Kahkonen.

I'd deal Kahkonen and Byfield for Tkachuk. Kahkonen could be good, but goalies are so hard to predict. Let someone else take the chance that a goalie will or won't work out. Get the superstud in Tkachuk.

Then use his like of Kahkonen to help you get the trade. I think you might hurt your chances of asking for a 2nd round pick. Maybe getting a 3rd or 4th might be the better option. Sell the upside you are offering.

For me, it really depends on the complete price it would cost to get Tkachuk. Would I trade Byfield as part of a package to get Tkachuk, yes, but I'd like to know the entire price before saying anything further than that.

Yes, do the goalie & Byfield for Young Chucky. Worth it, especially with your goalie depth and since you've got a chance to do well this season.

Kahkonen/Byfield for Tkachuk even without the pick included. I would also do Byfield/Yamamoto, but not entirely sure where Yamamoto's value sits these days.

So the ask is a bit ridiculous:

    Byfield/Kahkonen/W. Nylander/2021 1st for Tkachuk/Nick Paul

I have 3 1st round picks next year and it's a weak draft so I wouldn't lose much sleep over it. Nylander can put up points but doesn't contribute much in terms of PIMs, Hits or Blocks. Paul would help me because he's minor eligible so I can use him to rotate in other guys in my farm system.

For perspective with our settings, Tkachuk is ranked 7th overall amongst all skaters as a 21 year-old. Part of me is thinking just do whatever it takes to get him and go for the championship. It's a lot of pieces to give up but Brady is a beast and it's scary to think what he'll do in the future.

    Thoughts?

I think you can find other upgrades to your roster for cheaper prices. That's ridiculous. I'd tell him thanks but no thanks.
