I inquired about Scheifele. The offer I received was:

OGM: Connor, s.Jones, T.Wilson, Rasmus Andersson, Erik Karlsson
for my: Hall, Marchand, Gudas, Barrie, Dumba

My response was “what about Scheifele “

OGM 2nd offer: his Scheifele, Connor, T.Wilson, S.Jones, EK
for my: Hall, Marchand, Ehlers, Ristolainen, Dumba

EK I’m not interested in. I’d take him if the rest of the trade was worth it.
OGM basically removed his Andersson for Scheifele and removed my Gudas, Barrie for Ehlers, Ristolainen.
I don’t really like either offer. Not sure how to counter to obtain Scheifele. Thoughts ?
OGM is 5-0 and expecting a championship.

With an eye on the keep 6 aspect, you're swapping Hall and Marchand for Scheifele and Connor, which I like. I don't think Hall will rebound to a PPG.

I'm not sold on the overall deal, but I think there's potential.

If you're competing this year try to get Ehlers out of the deal. If you're not I'd take it as is.

Personally I hate huge deals like this.

I find the reason for the deal gets lost in mumbo jumbo of so many people. But here it goes....

Dumba and EK you may as well remove - I think he's just trying to get rid of him without dropping him....

I don't mind that deal though. Losing multi cat with Risto but getting Wilson and Jones is huge!! - I take Wilson over Ehlers personally.

So boil down to Scheiffele/Connor for Hall/Marchand.

It's decent. I think Marchand is the best player in the deal though and I hate giving that up.....

But with it being such a huge deal I think you're upgrading on every other piece so I would definitely consider it. You should try removing EK and Dumba though - or have a back up plan for EK

If I received an offer like that, I would reject and say 'keep it simple'. I don't even bother looking at the players. They are not interested in a focused deal - they want to confuse. And receiving a counter like that - I just reject and say 'thanks I'll leave it for now'.

That said, you are inquiring about Scheifele at a really high value - you're going to overpay no matter what.

Ya, the original deal is too rich. Your counter is more reasonable, but I'm not sure I'd pursue this one too hard. Other GM is trying to misdirect and extract additional value by doing so. It irks me.

I have just let it sit. I feel I should be able to get a better return giving up the same pieces.
