Traded For Stutzle/Josi, Very Impressed

Made this Trade before the season started, knowing full well Hughes had no where to go but up after last season's disappointment. Its early, but I'm convinced Stutzle may end up same category of player if not better 5 years from now.

On the other hand I'm a little weary on how this draft will look because of the limited junior action we've been able to see, especially since its considered defensemen heavy, so the 1st may not turn out as valuable as I would've hoped. What say you Dobber forums?

Traded to me: T. Stutzle, R. Josi, 2021 1st round pick (looking like a top 4 pick)

Hard to say what the long term outcome will be between Hughes and Stuetzle, although I'd feel a little more confident holding Hughes right now. You sold him at the absolute lowest value, as you say. Josi is probably better than Rielly, mostly for SOG and BLK, but Rielly is in such a sweet situation in Toronto. Possibly muted though since you don't track PPP. Perfetti vs 1st this summer is a toss up. As you say, if the pick is for incoming rookies, good luck.

Also, can't tell by your thread title if you're impressed by your own deal making or by Stuetzle's progress so far? If it's the former, bold!

I agree with you, I gave up on Hughes early. And after seeing some other trades around here coulda definitely waited and gotten more. But after watching Stutzle in the world juniors, and now in the NHL, I can't help but feel he's going to be a stud. He's putting up some good, not great stats, but the way he plays is so mature for a 19 year old. I may be crazy, but I also think the Senators will be the better team in the long run, if only they could get some steady goaltending.

To your last point, I meant how impressed I am with Stutzle compared to how Laff has looked so far. Still so very early though. Thanks for the reply!
