Of course they do that to Bauer, someone who is outspoken against the MLB. Literally everyone does it, or a vast majority of the pitchers at the minimum.

With Bauer, I'm not shocked he's being looked at. He completely has stirred the pot for 2yrs, and his spin-rate has climbed. But I'm shocked no one else has had the balls looked at, or how they approached it.

How do you inspect an illegal ball AFTER the game and need it sent somewhere? Who knows who's touched the ball after? Sounds like the league is using the rule as a scare tactic more than enforcing it and if they think he's using illegal substances, but the umps don't give a crap cause they know everyone is using this is the Leagues way of being like, "oh we see you Bauer, stop talking sh!t"

I wouldn't be surprised if he was flagged, I wouldn't be surprised if ANY pitcher was flagged. However, if you flag Bauer, you need to at least inspect Cole's baseballs after every game.

That's the next thing, imagine after every game they inspected random balls used throughout the game? Now that would be an idea if they wanna enforce the rule. It wouldn't be too hard either. All you need is 30 MLB employees working, and in a spot where they can instantly request a ball, call it down to the umpire, he takes it and stuffs it in a pocket or a sleeve on his body. After the inning he places it with his belongings and after the game he brings it to the MLB employee.

Not this, "oh ya, those balls Bauer was using, lets have you send them in to be inspected". For all we know they're just going to start cleaning the balls once they're in the dugouts. How do they know it's Bauers too? Are they separating them? I guess, but couldn't he just say they weren't his pitches and they were off pine tar from bats? The whole thing sounds like it's impossible to police the way they have it set up.

Ok so the league inspects thousands of balls, and the umps collect them. Just some "hot gossip" writer decided to say Bauer because it creates a lot of clicks. End of story really until something comes of this.

So they are analyzing spin-rate change pitch to pitch? But I don't think pitchers go "ok, I need an out, time to use the pine tar". They use it all the time so the spin-rate wouldn't change pitch to pitch. This time tho, Bauer's balls were pointed out to the ump apparently and not by spin-rate change. Bauer's video is pretty interesting

Ya and the lack of COVID info isn't helping. In another league I had Hayes, Framber, Severino and Hand in my 4 IL spots. So yesterday when Ketel was added I made the move to drop Severino because who knows when he'll be back. Then all of a sudden today Hand is cleared for action so had I have known or had any indication I probably wouldn't have dropped Luis.
