I dont think he's injured at all. Just healthy scratched.
What is his injury status. I thought he was healthy but I don't see anything coming out of New Jersey and he's played 0 games

What has this world come to where Matt Tennyson and Dmitri Kulikov are playing ahead of Will Butcher?
Will Butcher's status is the same as Martin Brodeur's status. Probably not going to play.
Seems strange three years ago was considered the top prospect for future and now not in lineup. Don't know how nobody definitively knows what the reason there is for him not in lineup. None of the major sporting news seem to have any mention of him being a scratch every night. I've got guys complaining in a box pool why he was listed as a choice if he's not going to play again
Right now he's depth and depth is everything. Gives NJ the luxury of trading Subban if/when they find a suitor. Or an injury backfill. Lots of NHL level players hanging out on taxi squads this year.

He was and is a guy who has one skill, being decent at puck distribution. The one year he broke out was a year where NJ didn't have anyone to really do the PP1 job, so Butcher did it and was successful. NJ has accumulated better defenseman, including a guy in Ty Smith who is exactly like Butcher except better. Even when Butcher was breaking in, he was thought to be a 3rd pairing guy with some PP contributions. That might be it for him.
Lost his job to Ty Smith, who knew it would come some quick? Life comes at you fast.
A world where being good at defense matters
I would much rather see Carrick in over Tennyson or Kulikov, but Butcher is a pylon.
Honestly Tennyson and Kulikov have both been pretty solid for what they've been tasked with though. I like seeing Kulikov in the lineup but Tennyson is just a really good AHLer.
