If you have mental wellness issues , money doesn’t even enter the picture. The downward spiral happens so fast, negative self talk, low self esteem etc.

I think this is a good move for Crawford.
Even with the NJ signing, I think his career can now be reflected simply as a Blackhawk, a cup-winner.

Owning Blackwood, this makes me happy. But does anyone know if NJ has any option to get out from under the cap hit? He was over 35 when he signed but hopefully, there is some leeway for a player that never stepped on the ice.

Correction Regarding Crawford Retirement Cap Hit:As correctly identified by @cmasisak22,
the new MOU guidelines amended the 35+ rule: Since Crawford's contract is 1. backloaded, and 2. Doesn't contain any signing bonuses in year 2. Retirement results in no cap hit penalty.

One of my all-time favs as a Hawks fan. Always felt he was underrated, but if you watched him from night to night, his greatness was pretty evident. He was absolutely stellar in those 2013 & 2015 Cup run. He did what you need your goalie to do to win a Cup -- steal a few.
