Interesting to note - Hischier isn't mentioned on any of the Devils top 3 lines.

    Zajac - Merkley - Kuokkonen
Zacha - Gusev - Boqvist/Wood (This was Bratt's spot to end last year)

Zacha & Gusev hit it off end of last year. Interesting to see if Gusev their best winger remains with the 3rd line C and who moves to wing between Hughes, Hischier, Zacha, Zajac .. something's gotta give.
Regardless, They're already playing for next year.

PK is going to get long looks on the PK (shocker)

Josh Jacobs showing well early in camp, still a long shot for top 6D

The NHL has also announced that during training camp they will continue to use the "unfit to play" terminology, but once the season starts they will announce when players test positive for Covid vs. other ailments

These are fine. The NHL should do this. 3 years from now nobody will care. But the obvious compromise is do this on the ice, but negotiate so fans can buy jerseys that are clean.

Unclear if this is because Gio is split in the other group or this is their plan. This is what they ~should do, but the Flames have split their two groups with NHLers pretty evenly in case one group has an outbreak.

Ward even said it's experimenting for now

...“He’s got some familiarity with our powerplay set and how it works,” said Ward. “He does have a good shot. We’d really like to see a little bit more attack from the top this year as opposed to just dishing off to the flankers all the time, so we feel like he might be able to deploy that for us a little bit from the top. He’s smart enough to bring the puck up, usually sees who the open man is. He’s a guy we’re going to experiment with there and so far for the reps he’s got in camp he’s done a good job.”

I have Gio in a heavy peripherals league including blocks so while no guaranteed PP1 is disappointing id still roster him.

In my points league on the other hand, definitely going to keep an eye on Andersson but not worth a pick up just yet.

    For the Canucks fans!

    From Sportsnet 650:
Roussel on who's stood out to him at camp so far: "Hoglander. If I had a pool, I'd draft him right away. He's going to be really good right away."

    I will listen to him!
31 TEAMS keep all multi-cat (lot of them) dynasty
Offensive stats : Goals, Assist , PPP, PPTOI, SOG...
Defensive stats : PKTOI, BLKS, TakeAway, Giveaway...

Valimaki is with Andersson. He is going to be brought along much slower than most people are expecting and hoping for.

I like that comparison! Maybe a higher upside IMO, but not that much

Actually, Gusev - Hughes - Palmieri were grouped together today during a practice game, per Amanda Stein.

All good stuff. It’s still early in camp and many many combos will be tried.

    PP Lines at Leafs camp

    PP1
    Matthews Marner Thornton Simmonds Rielly

    PP2
    Tavares Nylander Hyman Spezza Lehtonen

As a Tavares owner I am not pleased. I did not expect Nylander to keep his PP1 spot so I avoided him in drafts, I will be disappointed if Tavares loses his PP1 spot also.

    Kevin Kurz@KKurzNHL

Sounds like these are currently the top four lines, with six days to go before the opener:

    Meier - Couture - Labanc
    Kane - Hertl - Leonard
    Nieto - Gregor - Donato
    Marleau - Kellman - Gambrell

Top two D pairs remain Vlasic-Karlsson, Ferraro-Burns. Boughner mentioned today how he really likes Ferraro with Burns the past few days, so assuming Simek returns, he could be on third D pair for opener.
