Yeah, I think that's good for those players to stay in Europe.
Easier to know where you are going to be "all season" - for a kid.

The whole CHL? AHL? NHL? could be a tough for a 50/50 prospect.
Detroit may have messed up Rasmussen with that one season too early.

    Here's some more points:
When NHL teams do want to call up prospects from the minor leagues, those based in the U.S. will be able to get them on the ice quicker than some of the Canadian counterparts.
“There will be a quarantine period of seven days to bring somebody up,” Stars general manager Jim Nill said.
Taxi-squad players will be apart of the daily testing rules for NHL players. So theoretically if a player gets sick on the NHL roster, the taxi squad players should be safe to bring into the lineup.

Apparently players on USA AHL teams being recalled to Canadian NHL teams will require a 14day quarantine because the Canadian gov't did not waive NHL travel in the non-essential travel rules.

Paul Maurice made it clear he rather have his prospects on the Manitoba Moose than on the Jets practice squad traveling, skating, and practicing without getting any development. "I don't want young guys in general on the taxi squad not playing"

^Yeah... it's actually gonna be a fun little "Predict the Call-Up" for injuries & such.
Because you are picking from a 4-6 player Taxi-Squad, with likely one center that can take faceoffs... maybe two wings, two D, and the G3.

For people who are tight for goalies in fantasy, as soon as a goalie goes down in-game... you pretty much know for sure which goalie is coming up!
    A: It's the one from the taxi-squad!!!

Unfortunately I think they've messed that up with their last few 1st rounders. Im hoping Rasmussen can recover with a healthy season this year.

I'm curious if the NHL is going to do what the NFL was doing when it comes to "high risk" players. RB1 in the NFL tests positive, all RBs who were in the practice rooms with RB1 will be put through the testing protocol which included 4days straight of negative tests. So if the positive test happened too late, all RBs are not eligible to play, regardless of negative tests.

What happens when a G1 tests positive who I'm sure will be in close contact with G2? Should be interesting and we'll likely see enough evidence quickly about it with powerplay/PK/D partners possibly going through COVID protocols.

So I'll Poehling,Fleury start season on Taxi-Squad to save main cap space.
I think they carry Mete officially on roster (not waivers exempt) as D7.
Yes - just read the Habs update on The Athletic from Basu. They basically had to choose between Mete and Juulsen on waiving a D and they felt Juulsen was less likely to be taken and Mete was of more help this season. They hoped Juulsen's lack of development due to injury over the last few years would keep him safe. Shane Churla, now with the Panthers, was the Habs 2nd in command of armature scouting when they drafted Juulsen - so there's a connection there. If he doesn't get a spot on the Panthers roster they'll have to waive him...so he could be claimed by the Habs.

It'll be interesting to see here in about 20 mins if Perry or Frolik get claimed...
