While I am optimistically excited, I will wait for the official press release to come out confirming this before I do a dance. This story just says they are "aiming" to start on the 13th of January. All it takes is one hiccup in negotiations again to see it pushed.

The VGK owner said don't be surprised if the date gets pushed back lol. He's been quite the non-secretive owner recently with the whole restarting a season info.

I'm leaning towards the start date pushed back closer to Feb, there will be hiccups and Covid infection rates still loom large.

There's a twitter account NHLRumours (something like that) and they are crazy accurate on things since I've started following them. They've been pushing a Feb start date for a while.
Just logically thinking, you'd need to be telling players to come from overseas now into the country, and american players to come to Canada right now to quarantine if you were thinking Jan15 as a legit base.
Lets say players are in their teams cities before Christmas. Meaning they'd need to be in the cities around Dec 11th (Friday). 2 weeks isolation takes you to Christmas day. From a social aspect, I doubt players would want that, so maybe Dec28th is a more realistic start date. 2 weeks of practice takes you to Jan 11th, 2 weeks for a pre-season takes you to Jan 25th. Just realistically thinking, End of Jan/Beginning of Feb is the date.
Mid-Jan might end up being the start of camp date though?

Yeah - It’s great that they’ve put aside all the CBA garbage and decided to play. But there are indeed a lot of hurdles with all the covid restrictions. But it’s progress.
