Am I too stubborn hanging onto Chych?
I have been burned in the past by bailing out on young guys too fast. I’ve held onto Chych for the batter part of a season and a half now. My defence ain’t great but I consider him to be Carlson lite in that once OEL is moved or whatever he’s gonna bust open. Now it is Arizona so the team around chych is different that the team that Carlson has but I feel it’s only a matter of time.
I have one more drop to make (Galch is gone from the team below now). Thinking Shatty is the guy but if something happened between now and keeper lock (date not set until we know when the season will start) whereby I gain another keeper is Chych worth hanging onto? I’ve been so bullish on keeping him that I wonder if I’m being delusional.

In a vacuum I like him to continue improving a bit. He won't get to Carlson, or maybe not even Krug levels, but he's a solid asset.
It all depends on who else replaces him. If you bring in someone better, and don't want to drop a goalie, then it would come down to Chych or Suter as your last drop.

I'm not optimistic that Shatty is going to have much value. I would not move Chychrun to keep him. The kid had double-digit goals in a partial season, I want to keep owning him.

If your expectation for Chychrun is Carlson, you will be extremely disappointed. Having said that, I do like him and think he’s worth holding on to in this scenario.

I concur with this. Chychrun is on his way up. Need to temper expectations because of team around him, but I'd much rather have him over Shattenkirk moving forward.Originally Posted by TheDard

Two clarifications:
1. I said Carlson lite, as I’m not expecting Carlson but that would be fantastic.
2. I should have written this better, it’s not a choice between Shatty and Chych. I am dropping Shatty between these two no doubt. My question is more for IF I end up making another uneven trade, say for an extra forward, am I being too bull headed in trying to keep Chych? I guess that would be difficult to answer without knowing who we are comparing to huh? I’m likely making this more confusing as I type so let me end it here.

If you add another keeper I'd cut Dubnyk, Jones, Dadonov, or maybe even Suter before Chychrun.
