Sounds like MLB proposed this but it was already declined by the PA.

The MLB has the same energy of a college burnout writing papers the day before.

Yup... its gonna be a long back and forth and we will likely miss 2-3 months of the season again.

Lindor has been offered a 10yr 325mill deal.
Lindor has asked for a 12yr 385mill deal. He's turning 28 in November so he wants the deal to take him to 40yrs old. Holy baseball contracts for stars are INSANE.
I'd be way more than happy if the league made a rule to max out a deal at 5-8yrs like NBA/NHL and totally readjust the rookie/team control issues they have.

I think they will definitely be adjusting the rookie deal issue. Can't say the same for the contract lengths.
I think the length of rookie control should be roughly the same length of the contract length you can sign for.
Like.
NHL - RFA length = 5yrs roughly. Max deal length is 7-8yrs
NBA - RFA length = 5yrs roughly. But with heightening pay levels. Max deal length 5 yrs
NFL - RFA/Rookie deal = 4yrs with different money levels throughout that deal. Max deal length infinite it seems lol. But signing bonus and option bonus can only be prorated over 5yrs.
MLB - team control = 6yrs of service time. Service time is defined as 172days on the 25 man roster. For me, I wonder how it would change if the 6yrs of service time was changed from 25man roster to 40man roster how quickly players would go to FA. And I much rather see Lindor on FA at 25yrs old than 28yrs old.
Then make the max deal 5-8yrs, so you can get the potential of top FA moving twice in a career. I like how the NBA has it for their stars just because they move around a lot and in 5yrs a team like the Clippers go from terrible to Championship level, or you go from KG Nets to bad Nets to good Nets to Championship Nets in like 5-7yrs.
