It would seem, so far anyway, that Florida is not as close as the left hoped & thought it would be.
Florida was obviously a huge must-have state for President Trump.

    So, phew.

    For now.

Any of this stuff before roughly 6pm est is dumb. Depending who you read it switches. And with the large amount of mail-in, advanced voting, we won't know true numbers until way later. Depending who you read on Twitter, it's only like 150,000 votes separating the two, which is not a lot especially this yr.

I saw Florida is 400,000 more votes than in 2016 with like 4hrs to go at the time of that tweet. The turnout this yr is insane.

    I guess we'll see. I don't pretend to know.
Some credible people saying Florida is definitely trending the right way. No pun intended.

I had just assumed Florida would vote right.
This isn't much of a surprise.

The Florida surprise was when Gore almost... or did win it (depending on what you want to believe)

I don't pretend to know at all and I think that's the majority of people which causes a ton of issues. There's people who are saying Rep are only up by 150k and that looks good for Dems. Which I don't get at all. Between 5:30-6pm I think is when the real info comes to light, and between 8-9pm is when the real info comes out.

Florida trending red may not surprise anybody, but based on recent polling (Biden leading in most of them) and the number of electoral votes there, it would be a massive blow to POTUS' chances if he ends up losing FLA.

I assume that's why so many are watching it closely. I don't even think I'll keep following the news tonight if FLA reverses course and trends blue.

I would think it's a state Reps need since they've never won without winning Florida. I think it hurts Reps more if they lose it than Dems losing it.

It’s such an interesting system for electing a leader. I understand the flaws of a “Popular vote” system in that you want to encourage the candidates to focus their campaign all over the country, rather than the most populated areas, but using the electoral college just shifts their focus to campaigning in the swing States, while essentially ignoring the safe States.

It would be interesting to see the electorals not vote as expected, although I imagine this is incredibly rare.

I think the Popular Vote system is flawed, as is the Electoral College. There has been talk for a long time of changing the system, but I am not sure what would be better. I imagine changing the system would be a monstrous task, as it is built right into the Constitution.

Pretty sure the way it's structured now was based off of when slaves were allowed to vote, but their vote counted as 3/5th a vote. It's something weird like that where the system doesn't quite make sense anymore because it was based off of slaves getting a vote. I can't remember the full reason, but it's something that had to do with slaves counting as 3/5ths a vote.
