Default Great rundown for all asking about prospects

I know it’s behind a paywall - but if you don’t have a subscription to The Athletic and you’re serious about hockey you should get one.

This thorough review is of the top 50 prospects who are under 23, not in the NHL, and signed or drafted. Exactly what many are looking for for dynasty drafts. Fantastic article.
Spoiler - Lafreniere is #1, #50 is Mavrik Bourque.

For the record, The Athletic is like $1/month right now (no commitment). Almost no reason not to sub.

They've been running that promo for a while now too, probably for a while yet. Everyone go sub!

I read a lot of Scott Wheelers columns but I find myself disagreeing with his opinion a lot of times but that's just me I guess.

I jumped out of my Athletic subscription before it auto-renewed at $60per year.
I think they've found that their payment feature works well because it's "per month" advertised, but then it kicks in with the old yearly full pay when you hit your 1-year.
That catch... that people forget about that... will be their bread & butter.
    Just... worth checking.

But as far as what you get for price... it can't be beat.

I do have two other sources for prospect intel that I love slightly more than Pronman & Wheeler.
Wish I could give those up... but obviously... not in my best interest to!!! LOL.

I'm a huge fan of the Athletic and don't mind the $60 a year since I easily get $5 a month value from the site. I enjoy all the team writers and the podcasts. The Vancouver, Toronto, and New Jersey writers are all excellent. The game recap articles for the Canucks and Leafs are a must-read for me. Wish the Blackhawk writers were better though.

In terms of Wheeler's rankings, I find it hard to believe that the first 7 or so prospects are all from this year's draft. Zegras, Cozens, and Newhook need to be in there in front of Holtz, Perfetti, and Rossi. And Broberg isn't even on the list but Bouchard is 20-something? Has Wheeler not paid attention to Broberg over the last couple months? I understand it is just one person's opinion but I don't put a lot of stock in it.

Probably recency bias? If you don't agree with him its all good. It's a great place to start and gets you thinking. I for one don't have time to get that in depth on this stuff at all. I pay close attention to the Habs farm system but that's it - aside from the big names. So this article was very helpful to me.

If you read the comments, he admits it's recency bias.

I didn't see that and I skimmed the comments.

Speaking of comments, I usually avoid comments online but there is great information on the comment section on the Athletic. Maybe it's just because it is a subscription-based site but the quality of some of the comments is very high. I enjoy reading about other teams that I do not know that much about.

But I hear ya Tweetdrivr about Wheeler. He's fine but I tend to enjoy Pronman's coverage more.

Pronman has his biases as well. He'll take a home run swing every day of the week over a solid double. Not that there's anything wrong with that, every person's ranking should be taken with a pinch of salt.

That said, Noel Gunler at 42?! I seen rankings that don't have him at 42 from his own draft-class.
