Unfortunately I dont think we're going to get a schedule right away here. They still dont know about playing games in BC and a few other things that could impact the way they want to schedule this. At least we have a start date though.

With Ontario's province wide (potential) lockdown of 28 days starting Dec 24th at 12:01am, Ottawa/Toronto would likely have to start on the road, and I have no idea how they'll deal with training camp because 28days from Dec 24th would be Jan 21st.

New rule for the NHL playoffs in 2021.
Reseeding will happen prior to the Stanley cup Semi Finals.
SOOOO if the standings of the final 4 finish...
Toronto - 90pts
Boston - 89pts
Dallas - 88pts
Colorado - 87pts
The semi-finals would NOT be Boston vs Toronto and Dallas vs Colorado. The semi's would reseed, and the semis would be Toronto vs Colorado and Boston vs Dallas with the potential of having a Stanley Cup final between 2 teams from the same 2019-20 division let alone from the same Conference!
I don't know what they'd do with the "Conference Champions" trophies, but there is a VERY outside shot at Toronto vs Boston/Calgary vs LAK as some examples

^Strange.
Super strange.
An all-divisional schedule should skew point output.
So a great team in a tough division might end up with 70pts (in 56gp).
And a good team in a weak division might end up with 71pts (in 56gp).
And they are going to give the 71pt team the "higher seed".
To counter my own point...
There wouldn't BE any other way of saying one team is better than another...
So they pretty much have to do it that way.
Ho-hum.
Moving on. (Stop complaining P7... enjoy the hockey on the horizon!)
BTW - is there just ONE divisional champ moving to playoffs?
Is it after a FOUR team divisional playoff?
Does the NHL have playoff plans (posted) for after the divisional-play?
I don't even know how they'll do it.
I hope they do a 4team playoff in each division, winner of that goes into the "Stanley Cup Semi-Finals". I did discuss this with friends, and I think it was because this issue was brought up and someone proved me right by saying the league is doing a "mini-playoffs" in each division.

im assuming you would like schedule for the fantasy purpose. Im not sure what your league settings are and so on but we do have start date and end date and we know we get 17 weeks (first week 5 days last week 6 days) so for my leagues im able to set a schedule ...now if anything shifts we will need to adjust on the fly but nothing these days is set in stone.

What will the playoffs look like?
The regular season will wrap up on May 8 and then the league will return to a 16-team, best-of-seven, four-round playoff format. Four teams from each division will qualify for the playoffs.
The first two rounds will be intradvisional play. Then, the four division winners will advance to the semifinals, reseeded based on their regular-season point totals (No. 1 would play No. 4, No. 2 would play No. 3). The two semifinal teams will play in the Stanley Cup Final -- and if you've been following along, that means it's not necessarily going to be an Eastern Conference team versus a Western Conference team competing for the Cup. Bring on the chaos!
The Stanley Cup should be awarded around mid-July

^Thanks.
(Always fun to see when the logic goes the way you'd expect).
Obv - this keeps teams in their division "bubble" for as long as possible.
From everything I gleaned from last year's playoffs... it wasn't the COVID worry that bothered the players.
It was the separation from families.
I think everybody just wanted a "Where will we be? / Where will we be safe?" solution.
And this is it.
Obv - it's not ideal... but kudos to the NHL for getting something done.
Likely this will make players/families happy.
And if there isn't going to be fans anyways... might as well play something convenient.
Which leads us into another discussion...
Which division is toughest? Easiest.
(For that... a new thread).
Also, I think Edmonton has emerged as a front runner for a potential Conference finals bubble host. This obviously changes week-to-week right now. But that's my guess is how it happens. With reseeding, they have to make some plan that accommodates west coast vs east coast and east vs east potential.
