I am not sure. I am getting mixed signals from the insiders. Yesterday I read an albeit translated article from TVAs insider Renaud Lavoie suggesting he didn't forsee any problems getting government approval in places like Alberta, Montreal and the rest. He believes they've all basically got government approved more or less. But that I guess could be old news now lol. This changes every hour.

According to David Pagnotta of the Fourth Period on Twitter:

"On the all-Canadian division: Told the 5 provinces (AB, BC, MB, ON, QC) are working together, to some extent, on parameters to allow the 7 CDN teams to play their games in home arenas. Per a source, right now 4 provinces are good with the plan; only 1 province has some objections."

we're all in the same holding pattern for h2h planning .

to be done on time for tokyo olympics(july 15) they'd have to start playoffs around tuesday may 11

so looking at the may 2021 calendar the potential final week for regular season could be sunday may 9th

so most leagues likely combine first short week + following week and if may 9th is reg season end date it gives you 16 total weeks for h2h + h2h playoffs.

also , for the nhl to fit 56 games into those 16.5 weeks the teams will have aprox 8 weeks of 4 game weeks , 8 weeks of 3 game weeks

my only issue from a commish planning perspective is the h2h playoffs because leagues typically use the final 3 weeks to a month of reg season . if some weeks get pushed back due to covid it could throw a wrench in things .

I only commish free leagues so the fellas are open to adjustments wheras the money leagues I participate in could see some concerns raised .

may 8th is a target date in updated TSN article, that is Saturday.

i think you can count on 17 week..first week is Wednesday to Sunday, with condensed schedule that should be enough games, may just have to adjust goalie starts for one week if you use minimum.

the next couple of weeks is gonna be filled with signings and maybe a few trades. could be just what the nhl needs to get back in the headlines again and generate some much needed preseason buzz.

I'm going to assume since AZ is considered their temp. home they wont have as many covid restrictions attached ? i.e , could go golfing on a day off , not locked into hotel room

Santa Clara county has an order in place prohibiting all contact sports. So they can’t practice or play there.
