I normally wouldnt put much stock into this, but if Bob MacKenzie is dropping this name, it's worth taking notice. I dont think much comes from it, but its still a rumor floating around from the Legend himself. Sorry for all the tweet quotes but thats how the Bob-Father dropped them.

https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/s...39110198042627Imagine my surprise when I started making calls today and heard Jack Eichel trade rumours, including unverified chatter he may have at some point recently requested a trade out of BUF and that NYR were amongst interested teams. This, of course, required further investigation.
https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/s...39257917296642“I hear that (trade talk) a lot,” Eichel’s agent Peter Fish said. “Jack wants to win, he’s frustrated (not winning) but, no, he doesn’t want out. Jack is preparing to head to Buffalo at some point here and prepare for the season, whenever that may be. That’s all he controls.”
https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/s...39497764384768The messaging out of BUF is Sabres aren’t shopping Eichel, there’s no real desire to trade him, but since Kevyn Adams became new GM several clubs have called about Eichel’s availability. NYR believed to be one of the teams that called. So calls were made; calls were taken.
https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/s...39860550696960None of those talks with other clubs resulted in Eichel trade traction. But it’s also believed there has been dialogue between Eichel and BUF to ensure they both want the same thing (to get better obviously) and share the same timetable (sooner rather than later).
So, the face-value review appears as follows: Eichel doesn’t want out of BUF; BUF doesn’t want to trade Eichel; move along, nothing to see here. Fair enough. But some rumours are worth checking out/mentioning. Which I’ve now done. Now back to draft prep.

Makes sense for teams to poke around and test the new GM to see if something can get done.

JUST FOR FUN...
Does Alexis Lafrenière (#1OA) + Kaapo Kakko land the Rangers Jack Eichel? Would either side want to make that trade?
- I said... "God damn this tablet is heavy!"
I know this won't happen this yr, but....where there's smoke...Let's be honest, it's kind of sad seeing Eichel wasted too in Buffalo.
NYR have that cap space too to take on the whole contract without any real cap hell implications either.

I mean... with Buffalo holding Cozens, Mittelstadt, and signing Eric Staal... there definitely seems like there's fuel for a fire here.
I think Buffalo still needs blueline help.

Ha. Retracted!!! Retracted!!!
Caught a clip today of Friedman saying the Rangers are the best positioned to make the trade and the two teams talked previously. Other teams such as the Ducks have big interest. I need to find the full clip to get the context

They’ll regret trading him to the Rangers.
It's the never ending NHL cycle. It's going to be a "busy deadline" until "these trades make more sense in the offseason, you'll get more by having more teams involved", which progresses to "it's going to be a busy summer" until "these trades make more sense at the deadline, when teams know more where they stand and get desperate".
The end result is 31 (soon to be 32) hyper scared GMs who do nothing because "trades are hard" and that excuse is good enough.
