I would 100% want him on a small deal on my team.
Seems like typical Sens tho, guy battles back, and they waive him because they can't afford him? Like it's not like they need the cap space

Out with the old guard in Ottawa with them stating they also wouldn't be re-signing Anderson.Expect the Ottawa Senators to place Bobby Ryan on waivers for the purpose of a buyout.
Also, how the F they gonna make the floor lol

Come on home to the Flyers!! Sign a cheap two year deal and get to play close to home.
I trust you mean 7 years, and $8.00 USD. That’s Melnyk’s style. Seriously, tho, which big-money GK would want to play for Ottawa? I could see Georgiev, as he’s being shoved aside in NY. Matt Murray is young enough to platoon with Nilsson for a couple years and hope-against-hope that Ottawa plays it right with their youth.
... and can anyone see the Sens taking Askarov with pick 5 as additional insurance? (Gawd I hope not, too many better options!)
I read earlier to not be surprised if you dont see someone like Derek Stepan dealt to Ottawa. He carries a big cap hit ($6.5M 1 yr left) but only owed something like $2M in actual salary. With Arizona trying to clear cap, he would certainly be a target for a few teams with cap space.

Yeah... it's a viable strategy lately. I'll take your crap contract if we get something for doing it.
So the question is "What does Arizona have to ADD to get Ottawa to take Stepan's contract?"
A... 3rd?
this is sad, hope he gets signed somewhere but this is not the one i would blame on Ottawa's antics. Any team would try to do that, he just aint a great hockey player anymore but he is paid like one.

I'm sure several contenders could find a fit for him as a middle 6 winger with offensive pop. I imagine itll be in the US somewhere and probably where hockey isnt a big thing so he can just go about his day.
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
While Melnyk has given no reason for me to believe that he would do something in the best interest of another person, part of me wonders if maybe this was a move to perhaps allow Ryan to go to another team and contend for a championship?
If i'm understanding buyouts correctly (which I had to ask Eric to give me a crash course on lol), Ryan will get paid roughly $5.3 mill per year of his $7.5M price tag? And he'll be allowed to sign another contract with another team now?
His $7.5M contract + 2 years probably wouldn't be very appealing for teams via trade so now he's free to sign with whatever team he chooses and perhaps get a chance to compete for a title. I'm not sure how salary retention works or whether or not buying him out was more beneficial than trading him and retaining salary.
Just playing devil's advocate here.
