Zadina for Korpisalo
Hi guys I was just offered Zadina for Korpisalo. I own Korpisalo. Thoughts? Should I accept or ask for more? Thanks for your input. Here is my current team and point system.
28 man roster:
F: Teravainen, Dubois, Matthews, Palmieri, Horvat, O'Reilly, Schmaltz, Drouin, Trocheck, Kadri, Kreider, Hoffman, Lee, Couture, Skinner, Mittelstadt.

G: Blackwood, Grubauer, Lehner, Korpisalo
Points: 3 points for a goal, 2 for an assist, 1 point for plus minus, 1 point for pp and sh points, .1 shots on net, .1 hits. Goalies 4 points for a win, -2 points for a loss, -1 point goals against, .1 points for saves.

A few questions that need clarifying:
1. How many team league?
2. Is it a cap league?
3. How many goalie starts per day?

That's a pretty easy yes for me. Both guys involve some risk, but I can see way more upside with Zadina. My best guess is Korpisalo won't be more than a 1B going forward while Zadina has first line upside. After having watched Merzlikins for several years here in the Swiss league, I simply think he's too talented to not be the main guy in CMB long term.

Question 1 and 3 were the first things that came to my mind. In larger leagues, goalies like Korpisalo become more valuable, especially if you start more than one each day. In smaller leagues, not so much.Originally Posted by BlackhawksFan

So 32 starting goalies. I would not trade a young, 1B goalie for a prospect. It doesn't even look like you have a farm system. Hard pass for me.

I'd definitely want considerably more coming back before I'd consider this. With 32 goalies in play, any decent goalie has significant value and Korpisalo is definitely in that discussion. Your other Goalies are OK, but not outstanding so having that fourth option is just good insurance. I do like Zadina, but in your format and circumstance I just don't think he has the same value right now as Korpisalo.

Right on. Good to know.
Personally, I think you can do better than just Zadina for Korpisalo. Dont get me wrong, I like Zadina but guys like him are available every draft year if you are in the right spot drafting. It's much harder to find young NHL goalies who are actually fantasy relevant than it is forwards.
If I were you, I'd be asking for a solid second piece if he wants Korpisalo. If he's not willing to, just keep Korpisalo. If you want to move him, put him on a trade block and see what other offers you might get.

I'd take Zadina here, way more upside in my opinion. But I'm also not all that high on Korpisalo. He does not hold much value in my large keeper league. Zadina much more so.
