There is no doubt that Dahlin will be an offensive stud, but a lot has to do with the way the Sabres deploy him--especially compared to Makar and Hughes.
Look at it this way--during his rookie year, Dahlin barely logged much quality PP1 time--it was given to Ristolainen and Okposo. Makar and Hughes gobbled up as much PP time as they could handle.
Even last year, there were times I'd put on Sabres games and Dahlin wouldn't be out there on the top PP--it was Ristolainen--which is pure lunacy.
In order for Dahlin to reach his offensive upside, the Swords need to give him all the PP minutes he wants and let it be known that the offense runs through him and Eichel.
Makar and Hughes already have these jobs on lockdown and I'm afraid the Sabres are going to continue toying with Dahlin--I hope I'm wrong.
Based on offensive upside (and % of hitting it), I'll go:
Makar: Prime (65-72) / Upside (78-83) / Percentage to hit Upside (70%)
Hughes: Prime (60-70) / Upside (75-80) / Percentage to hit Upside (75%)
Dahlin: Prime (56-66) / Upside (73-78) / Percentage to hit Upside (70%)
I totally think Dahlin compares to the other two kids offensively, but I have more confidence in Makar and Hughes delivering religiously, based on their situations and usage. However, if Dahlin is ever handed the keys to the castle, I think he has a shot to hit 80--but all the stars need to align. Either way, Dahlin will be locked into a Top-10 D scoring role soon enough--I just question if he will ever lead the league in D points.

Dahlin was on for 57% of the PP in 2018-2019 and then 70% this past season. If this season wasn't shortened he would have been over 20 PPP again. He'll be able to hit 30 PPP in his prime.

He needs to be a LOCK on PP1 for as long as he wants--Karlsson, Carlson, Makar, Hughes, (good) Ghost in Philly, etc. At 19--even at 18--Dahlin was the most talented player in the entire Sabres organization, outside of maybe Eichel. I'm talking raw talent. He should have been 75% PP as a rookie and 90-95% this past season. The only time he shouldn't hop over the boards for the main PP is if he's injured or freshly off a 1 minute shift.

Thanks for all this guys! All making me feel like I made the right call to trade for him - diversified my keepers some and hitched to what seems to be a real stud with years of improvement to come. REP left.

I clearly like Dahlin better than Huges and also better than Makar. Makar could get stiff competition from Byram within short time, so they might end up eating into one another's prime minutes. Dahlin's status is much clearer.

Awesome! I think all three will be very good, but the GM who owns Makar & Hughes was asking for McDavid+ for one of them, haha, so I figured Boeser & a 4 round upgrade for Dahlin was a better way to get in on the young D. I know the other two have more buzz right now because of their epic rookie seasons, but Dahlin seems to have a great future too.
