a Torts system never breeds offensive proliferation but he is a guarantee for 40 plus and a super underrated goal scorer from the blue line.
Opinions on Werenski in a categories league? Points are pretty good, but not so sure if he can push it to 50+ points. Thanks for the feedback in advance, just curious on how you guys value him.
12 team deep keeper league, 17 main roster players, 5 prospect players, max 2 goalie keepers for the main roster. point breakdown goes as follows:
Skaters:
G is 4 points, 5.2 points for D goals. A is 2.5 points, 3.25 points for defense. 0.07 per FOW, 0.2 points for blocks, hits, and SOG 0.5 points for PIMS and +/-, 3 for SHG, 1.5 for SHA.
Goalies:
GS is 1.5 points, -1 for GA, 0.2 for SV, 4 for SHO, and 3 for W.

Similar thoughts as LuigiC--his upside is somewhat capped in his current situation but pretty much a lock for 40-50 pts. He certainly loses some value in multi cat setups with his low hit/block totals but he's pretty solid in SOG and could give you 200+ which is nice for a Dman. Personally I find him to be overrated in my own leagues but he's a good secondary option in your setup as long as you have other boosts in terms of multi cat guys.
He's a solid offensive Dman but in a multi-cat league, he loses value. I guess it depends on what you need more; offense or grit.

Werenski has 55-60 point talent. Jones is there and it hurts. But I love the kid--and would go to war with him any day--I believe in his skill way too much.

The talent is most certainly there. I'll pencil him down for 16-36-52, with 20 PPP, and 220 SOG.
Three important facts have already been discussed that are key in assessing Werenski's fantasy potential. The first is his very average peripheral stats. If Werenski isn't bring the big offensive numbers, his value in a multi cat takes a hit. The second is the Tortorella factor and a system which balances defensive responsibility heavily with pure offense. The last, and perhaps most important, is the Seth Jones factor. In the real world this duo is arguably as good as any in the league. From a fantasy perspective, it is unlikely that either one of these guys is going to dominate and get the lions share of prime ice time. There will be balance. Jones will put up 45 - 50 and contribute significant peripherals. Werenski will also put up 45 - 50, but will not contribute heavily across multi cats. Werenski is a blue chip D man, but for the reasons listed, we should temper expectations. Expecting a 65+ pt output is not very likely, but expecting 50 is very realistic and good value provided you are not looking beyond the scoring stats.
