You almost can't have the hub city be one of the Canadian cities

If its in Toronto then someone will make sure COVID 19 gets smeared all over the Montreal Canadiens pizza order.

Similarly if it happens in Edmonton or Vancouver - Calgary won't be able to order any meal without getting a COVID19 loaded pizza

If it's in Toronto, I would assume the Eastern teams would be playing in like Vegas.

And I've also heard that if it's in Toronto, there would be restaurants shutdown and only to serve the hockey teams. No outside customers at all.

I heard it on NHL Sirius XM station. Maybe it was just speculation by the host though. But would make sense. "Here's a restaurant that we deem reputable that you should order from" might be more realistic. But could also be "The hotel kitchen is only serving the hotel" AKA the hockey team in the hotel.

1 Toronto Blue Jay has COVID, not sure where he is (or if it is a staff member or player, I just got a text about it from my buddy)

So seeing Passan tweet...

- it's a Jays pitcher on the 40man roster
- He is in Dunedin (down the road from Clearwater where Phillies are)
- Had recently spent time with players in the Phillies minor league system at some point
- Facility is shutdown, no other Jay has been tested. GM Atkins said "We are being overly precautious with testing".

Las Vegas was reported as a "lock" to be a hub city about a week ago. I think by a local Las Vegas Paper. I get that the NHL could in theory takeover a hotel on the strip and it's right next to the arena but if the Vegas Strip opens up and allows visitors from across the Country (and World) it seems like a terrible idea.

Nevada (lead by the Vegas strip) reported its highest number of positives in a single day 2 weeks after testing.

If the NHL his uses two hub cities and its focus is truly on player safety and maximizing the chance of completing the playoffs it will pick Vancouver and Edmonton.

Any other selection is based on factors beyond safety IMO.

I heard that if Edmonton was a hub city that they have enough Dining Halls attached to the rink/hotel (all connectecd together) for each team to have their own dining hall for the duration of the playoffs.

The way the states have yet to finish their 1st spike, I would say any other country besides Canada is the wrong choice when safety is No1. Canada has done a strong job holding numbers down.

Also, the Federal government has/is finalizing waived the mandatory 14-day quarantine for players entering Canada from other countries to resolve that issue apparently.

From NHL GM's meeting, Post has learned that training camp is set for two weeks, with teams traveling to respective hub city on July 23 or 24 before playing one exhibition game. The Stanley Cup tournament that begins with qualifying rounds is scheduled to begin on July 30.

Was tested, came back negative, he's in California now.

So I wonder when Auston Testing positive even happened? Cause Andersen getting tested then moving to Cali happened quick
