I heard each player would need to be tested before they were to drop the puck. And we know that takes time. Unless you're under Trump's watch then "It goes, like, really, really quickly..."

I'm still getting a chuckle out of all these futile attempts by league officials to organize some kind of competition. Even the great Dana White who guaranteed UFC 249 would proceed had to fold his hand.
It just ain't happening.
But I'm guessing the league executives already know that, and all this talk is really just "busy work" so that executives can justify keeping their jobs for the time being...
Yeah it's just putting plans in place in case something crazy happens. They have nothing else to do right now. And of course the media will run with it and make a big deal about every idea because they are starving for content.

L.A, NYC say no to sporting events, large gatherings such as concerts etc, until at least 2021.
Until athletes get a vaccine, turn the lights out. Heard Mike Trout is hesitant to play knowing that his wife is pregnant and doesn't want to jeopardize her health.

I dont mind the talks of planning playoff scenerios / timeframes even if unrealistic . At least it takes our mind off covid for a few minutes.

JUST IN: NHL looking at restarting season in July.
Games would be played at 4 or 5 neutral sites with limited or no fans, according to Florida Panthers president Matt Caldwell.
On the conference call, he said this plan is not finalized.

Depends how you define neutral sites...Friedman was saying yesterday that they are looking at playing in 4 NHL buildings, one from each division. Of course those buildings are 'neutral' in the sense of them not being considered a home game for anyone fan wise. But doesn't sound like they're going to anywhere like Saskatoon or whatnot.
Friedman yesterday:
"The neutral-sites idea looks like a no-go.
Instead, we’re looking at one NHL city per division to resume the season. Teams from that division would be brought to this location. And, it sounds like the plan is to complete the regular season — if possible. One idea, a triple-header per day at each location to get it done in three weeks. The players have to agree.
Looking at the CDC and Canadian information, I could see places like Edmonton, Minnesota and Raleigh being options if the league and the respective governments were willing."

According to Lebrun, apparently, the latest preliminary plan is to investigate 12 or so "centralized" sites.
And the draft being held before the season ending has very little support.
Edmonton has to be one of the sites I would imagine.
Pros
- Northern Canada so it has cooler climate for warmer months
- It has an arena with an attached rink that could be used as a practice facility.
- There is an attached hotel to the arena that could host 8 teams..
- Supposedly they have one of the lowest cases per capita in Canada?
Cons
