Does the NHL and NBA have better experts that the government? How were they able to make the appropriate decisions in a more timely manner? They are businesses that stand to lose significantly. They had more at stake from shutting down, yet they still shut down things before the governments did.

I think it should have been the government taking action prior to all the sports leagues did.

I don't care what you think. You're not a health expert. Is it more likely that Trudeau completely ignored the advice of the health experts, while claiming that he actually listened to them, and no one actually said "Wait a minute, we never said that!"

Is it more likely that he actually did what they suggested.

I know which one I think is more likely. But feel free to believe in whatever conspiracy makes you the most angry at Justin today.

As for the comparison between the NBA and the borders of an entire country. Come on. Slow down and give that a thought. One of them is insanely more complex and has way more at stake and it's not the NBA.

The chances of the NHL resuming this year appear to be close to 0. But what else are they going to talk about? Might as well make up fantasy stories about 24 team playoffs. It's either that or old Equestrian footage.

I don't know if this was posted already, but this is Chris Johnston's story about the 24 team playoff. It's interesting. But a bit, um, bush league maybe (for lack of a better term, I'm actually hopefully something like this happens. I'll take bush league over nothing at this point.)

I'd rather see 8 teams with best of 3, or worse case, 1 game playoffs. A lot of the "integrity" of the season is gone already so might as well have high drama and excitement if the league can squeeze out even a few games.

Aside from Frozen Tools web traffic dying the minute the NHL went on hold, I'm kind of over the shock of no sports. I have plenty of other things to keep me occupied. I'm definitely going to get hyped for when all of this ends and hockey eventually returns.

As for playoffs, they're going to try to make the best of a really shitty situation. There's no great outcome here. A playoff with 24 teams will have tons of issues, so will a playoff with just 8 teams. If they leave it at the current 16-team format there's the issue of teams not having equal GP. Someone is going to be very upset when this plays out.
