If talks continue to go well, the National Hockey League and NHLPA could finalize and announce a tentative deal on Return to Play Thursday, TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reported.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie, barring any last-minute complications, the two NHL hub cities will be Edmonton and Toronto.
Long night of negotiations/hard work between NHL/NHLPA appears to have resulted in agreement on most issues on Phase 3/4 RTP, CBA extension, transition rules. Still a couple of items to finalize today. NOTHING, of course, is actually done until both sides ratify a tentative deal.

On critical dates, one we can pencil in — we are using @TSNquizmaster’s No. 2 pencil — is Free Agent Frenzy(?) on Nov. 1, 2020. We know this, for now, because 2019-20 contracts set to expire on June 30 have been extended to Oct. 31. So Nov. 1 would be Day 1 of 2020-21 contracts.
Once a tentative deal is reached, it will need to be ratified by the NHL board of governors and the full NHLPA membership. It’s my understanding that the players would be voting on the entire package and a simple majority would be required to pass.
Day after Halloween is Free Agency Frenzy. Interesting. It's also a Sunday.

"NHL and NHLPA have finalized tentative agreement on RTP Phase 3/4 protocols but are continuing to work on finalizing the details of the CBA MOU."
"The entire package — RTP and CBA — will need to be ratified by NHLPA executive committee and then a full membership vote but no ratification will take place until the CBA MOU is complete. Also will require ratification by NHL Board of Governors."
Bobby is in the middle of a huge tweet thread.

It's nice to see the new CBA be part of the package and it appears they're going to get there. It's also understandable to need more time to finalize the new CBA. I mean, it's kind of a big deal that affects the league for several years.

And it could be like U.S. Open tennis once we get into the playoffs. It’s not unheard of to start primetime matches at midnight.

Well kinda start thinking about timing and what players would be ok with...This is just me spit balling start times (MDT is Edmonton's timezone, EDT is Toronto's). I can't see them doing like a 10am start time in Edmonton/Toronto. Maybe they aren't staggered start time by an hr (Game #1 in Edmonton vs Game #1 in Toronto), maybe it's 2hrs. I can't see being able to watch 6games of hockey back-to-back. A 3hr game, have to prolly put 1-2hrs between games for cleaning/ice prep/warmup. So if they wanted to go 6games back-to-back...you'd need game #1 to start at 12am, and that arena would be done at 7pm (2hrs in between each game). 1hr between each game would have Game #1 start at 12am, Game #3 ending at 11am, and Game #1 in Toronto starting at 12pm and ending Game #3 at 11pm. So it just doesn't make sense that way.
If a game goes to like double OT is going to MESS the schedule up.

In Edmonton
Game #1 - Cleaning 9am-11am, Game 11am-2pm
Game #2 - Cleaning 2pm-4pm, Game 4pm-7pm
Game #3 - Cleaning 7pm-9pm, Game 9pm-12am
In Toronto
Game #4 - Cleaning 11am-1pm, Game 1pm-4pm
Game #5 - Cleaning 4pm-6pm, Game 6pm-9pm
Game #6 - Cleaning 9pm-11pm, Game 11pm-2am
There will always be a game on, no break when one arena is cleaning between games, 2hrs is more than enough between games to help a buffer with cleaning and additional time for OT possibility, again just spit balling.

11 pm games in the eastern based city ; your killing me Bettman .
Do we know that these games are all being played on the same rink though? Not sure about EDM, but in Toronto you could use the Leafs' and the Marlies' rinks to have game one and three on the same rink and game two on the other. That would stagger them enough to deal with the time overlap.
